If it was really about competing with Ronaldo then he has no reason going to this World Cup because he won it already- he already beat Ronaldo to a World Cup title even if Ronaldo wins it this year, Messi still won it before him.

He also wants Ronaldos 6th appearance...thats a record i dont see anyone breaking ...the only person that has a chance to reach it is Mbappe.... but he must be fit and in form for the next 8 yrs to achieve that

Without mincing words, I am an unabashed CR7 fan. With that said, I can't undermine the greatness and pure talents of Messi.
What I can't agree is anyone telling me Messi is greater or better than Ronaldo.

None of them wants to leave out a single record to the other even if the record is insignificant. Any record one is holding that the other doesn't have is a pain to the other vice versa.
Ronaldo's greatest pain now is not having that world cup medal and will continue to taunt him forever if he eventually didn't win it.
Let's tell ourselves the truth, after chasing the world cup for 4 times looking for football greatness and you eventually won it in the 5th attempt just like Messi did, what's the motivation for going for the 6th attempt, if not for to set appearance record.
