Nigeria opposition political parties failed woefully. I am so ashamed of them.

I have started thinking that it is the right thing to do for every Nigerian to reject them and all their candidate across board in all the elective offices, not only in presidential poll, to express their disappointment.

If you are referring to the recently submitted party membership registers to INEC, then the argument still needs caution because the public has not yet seen verified official numerical breakdowns from INEC showing the exact audited membership strength of each party nationwide.

What INEC officially confirmed is that all 22 registered political parties submitted their membership registers in compliance with the Electoral Act before the deadline.

So at this stage, people are already drawing sweeping political conclusions before INEC has even completed verification of those registers. INEC itself stated the submitted registers will undergo verification processes according to law.

Also, party membership figures alone are not reliable predictors of election outcomes in Nigeria for several reasons:

1. Nigeria has a history of inflated or inactive party membership databases.

Many people are registered into parties without ideological commitment, active participation, or guaranteed voting behavior. Some memberships are legacy records, duplicated entries, or politically motivated enrollments awaiting verification.

2. Registered party members are not equal to actual voters.

Nigeria has repeatedly shown that electoral outcomes depend more on turnout, coalition building, regional alliances, candidate popularity, campaign momentum, and voter mobilization than raw party membership size.

For example, Labour Party entered 2023 with a comparatively weaker traditional structure yet still secured over 6 million presidential votes nationally and won major urban centers. That alone proves party register size is not the sole determinant of political viability.

3. Opposition fragmentation is different from opposition irrelevance.

Even if APC currently shows a larger verified membership base, that does not automatically mean Nigerians have rejected all opposition parties. It can also reflect incumbency advantage, defections toward power, patronage politics, and survival calculations by politicians.

4. INEC has not declared any party “unserious” based on submissions.

The submission exercise was primarily a legal compliance process under Section 77(4) of the Electoral Act, not a referendum on electoral strength.

So the stronger factual position is this:

The submitted registers may reveal organizational disparities between parties, but until INEC completes verification and publishes authoritative audited figures, it is premature to conclude that Nigerians should reject every opposition candidate across board.

Political membership data alone cannot fully measure electoral competitiveness in Nigeria.

He's always been for the apc. Na today? because of his support for the apc, he cursed late Pa Adebanjo ahead of the 2023 elections cos he didn't support tinubu and he called himself yoruba. I had to caution him Even if tinubu na your papa, you no suppose dey do that to an elder. After all, democracy is by choice.

By the way, how many card-carrying members had the LP in 2023 and yet, garnered so much number of votes nationwide? Na by membership? Even before the apc took over, pdp's number of registered voters was almost doubled. Where are they today?

I said it, that the sham called APC primaries has something undertone.
In the first place do APC need a presidential primaries? Who wants to oppose a sitting president in his first tenure that started singing his reelection song from the first day he was sworn in as president.

All of a sudden an unknown person came out and was allowed just so that they'll do primaries, inflate the number of voters and tell us how popular the president and APC is.
This is a cheap arrangement that a primary 2 pupil can decipher.
Fellow Nigerians, prepare your minds. They have already started showing us what they intend doing next year.

Will you force people to join.
Mind you, the opposition is made up of several categories of people which includes but not limited to Disgruntled former party members, people that honestly want a change, people that are looking for their "TURN" to loot/rule etc.

They are not serious. The Obedient supporters are even worse, thinking propaganda can win elections. Your party has about 700,000 registered members, yet you are already claiming Obi won with 45 million votes in an election that has not even been conducted.

The opposition parties are also depending on the international community to help us protect our votes. They should form a delegation and go meet Trump, UK, EU, Israel etc and explain how they can help us since the opposition is incapable of safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy.
