Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress and is set to announce his membership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), THE WHISTLER has learnt.

A source close to the former Delta Central senator confirmed the development on Wednesday, saying Omo-Agege had resigned from the APC days ago but made his exit public on Wednesday.

“He has left APC. He will announce NDC soon,” the source told THE WHISTLER.

“He submitted his resignation on 22nd May and announced his exit from the APC today.”

“You can call it an earthquake because Omo-Agege was one of APC’s biggest political figures in Delta,” the source added.

According to the source, supporters and loyalists of the former senator will move to the NDC with him.

Former Deputy Senate President,Ovie Omo-Afgege is set to jon the Nigeria Democratic Party after dumping All Progressives Congress(APC).

Omo-Agege announced his resignation in a letter dated May 22, 2026, addressed to the APC Chairman of Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The letter read: “I hereby resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress, effective immediately.

“After reviewing recent developments in the party in Delta State and consulting with my associates and supporters, it is clear my political objectives and those of my constituents are better served outside the APC.

A quick glance at the permanent residents of Nairaland, yet always telling people to go get job.

Whenever there is either a positive or negative report about Peter Obi or NDC, simply check the first 5 comments. Likewise, whenever there is a positive or negative report about Tinubu or APC, check the first 5 comments as well.

This observation passes no judgement, it merely invites forum members to observe a noticeable pattern. However, watch the particular group of people that will immediately start foaming at the mouth over this simple remark.

Inconsequential, this one will go back to APC after winning election under NDC he's built for APC, he acts, talk and behave like them. NDC shouldn't waste their time giving him a senatorial ticket

Nigeria is doomed! These our politicians don't just care about anything but themselves. Now, Omo Mushin wants to join NDC all because the APC has denied him ticket. His joining NDC hasn't got shit to do with the people - the masses, but his personal interest. He, like every other, wants to ride on the OK popularity to get back to power.

As long predicted, the implosion of the APC in Delta and several other states was inevitable. Next to follow will be Ned Nwoko. The NDC may turn out to be the most formidable party in the South while the ADC becomes the most formidable party in the North. Where then will Tinubu's votes come from? He still has Omoluabi Seyi Makinde to contend with in his own backyard.

Thr governor is from same delta central, he better not contest governorship cos he will fail woefully but he can win Senate. he lack political foresight. he should have contest governorship in 2023. he would have be the Senate president. how ndi Biafra cum obidients will no longer call him mace snatcher again since he will be joining NDC. Omo agege is popular in his senatorial district because he utilized the deputy Senate president position to touch lives. I wish him well. he should not overate himself by contesting governorship. Ijaws and anioma people won't vote for him cos it is ljaw's turn for governorship in 2031.
