Greetings Auto Gurus,

Please advise on a choice between:

· A 2008 Nissan Rogue (foreign used)
· A 2004/2005 Toyota Camry (foreign used)

Resale value is not a factor.

My neighbor who majorly drives through bad roads daily is trying to decide which to pick. He plans to use the car for Uber business. His priorities are:

· Reliability
· Good ground clearance
· Low maintenance costs
· Durability

Thank you.
Let him run away from any Nissan product if he wants to live long. Nissan products you can trust and the Almeras and Primeras of the 90s. Any newer generations should be strongly avoided. Corolla or Pontiac Vibe or Toyota Matrix should be his pick.

If the Camry is 4 cylinders, make use of it. Most reliable car brand in the world

In whatever choice you make, don't buy that Nissan Rogue for such business.

Consider these two: 03 - 06 Crv or 03 - 05 Rav4. They fit into all of your requirements.

Camry does not have that much ground clearance.

Good luck

Used a Nissan Quest for long distance travels.

When all the different sensors start acting up, even brainbox sef you go change.
Just told you how rogue was submerged in water .and everything still works . Even electrical steering. Maybe the electrician touched somewhere n it became trial and error.

All rogue owners I know barely complain electrical problems

For Nissan rogue consult me. Have a 2011 model bought it in 2017. Still using it to date. Some people just say things they know little or nothing about and be saying it like they are right

I'm just wondering how someone will spend up to 10 million Naira on a car just to put it on the road and be working your ass off both day and night to recoup your investment while the e-hailing apps are smiling every second and minute

There are better things to invest money on rather than Uber

I have( I used to have) a Nissan rogue 2008. I bought it in 2024. In very good condition. It was meant for only local running. I only traveled with it once. I changed entire engine last year. As we speak, it is parked at my mechanic waiting for me to buy gearbox. If you doubt me just let me know. Tomorrow morning I will call you from the mechanic. I will even hand over the phone to him so that you can ask him whether it's direct Belgium I bought 2 years ago or not. Rogue ni, criminal ko

An you expatriate on the 3 to 4 trips per day thingy. If you are trying to make money, how does 4 trips translate into money?

Judolisco:
Go for Toyota.... If u want to do uber or bolt... Then u must be committed oh.. Start with a lot of working capital or money at hand like 200k..... And if you're in lagos, do only 3 or 4 trips per day.... If you're in Abuja, if you get mind do only night trips, that's where d money is.... Also stay strictly on business, don't make passenger friends.... Make money instead.... I wish you all the best... Though I won't advise going into the business but it's better than being idle

Coming from a Nissan Rogue owner. It is like using a RAV4 for Uber. The ground clearance and nearly unlimited lugage spaces are the only perk, fuel economy will get you discouraged. The parts are quite available and quite affordable. The CVT gear is the best thing when it comes to driving experience. No gear shifting, no jerking, the car goes from 0 -120KM in matter of seconds like it's nothing serious. With a 2.4lt engine it's not ideal for Uber. It's a compact utility car like RAV4 don't try using it for Uber business your profit will be low cos I tried it too.

I said that because of fuel and you'll pick your trips wisely.... With 4 good trips in lagos you can make 50k per day... In Abuja even with 20 trips, you might not make that amount.... Have you driven uber before?
Re: Uber Business Car Choice: 2008 Nissan Rogue Vs. 2004/2005 Toyota Camry by Sensiblerealist(m): 11:49pm On May 29
Yeah on my previous car. I was into something else then , so the bolt/uber guy wey I give wan finish inn Papa life.
When I collected it back and tried on my own, it wasn't as easy as you said. Your ratings go dey poor if you dey select rides and dem even dey suspend if it gets too low. And then, you will almost certainly not enjoy their useless bonuses if you dont have , I think 75-80% acceptance on e.g 10 rides.
If you accept wey customer later cancel or you cancel Na dat one worse pass. So many tricks they use to cheat, can't let recall them.
I for like run am aside sef but Tinubulation dey fear me. Make I just dey my Lane , spare parts cost and technicians are moving mad

yeah, they'll suspend you if you cancel too much... There's a way we cancel or reject back then and it won't reduce your drivers ratings...d bolt stuff can be frustrating.. I had to stop and look for something else

The nissan Rogue is a good car when maintained well.

If you want to maintain quality customers aka offline customers , go for the rogue .

If you are a car abuser go for the Camry .

You rely see complaints about that Nissan rogue in Lagos .

Camry big daddy is a Toyota , that's why people still consider it

The Camry is your best bet given our environment. You won't struggle with maintenance as any mechanic can fix it, parts are available & for the business you want to embark on, it, the Camry offers you some peace of mind; it's reliable & durable.

With the Roque, you have a good ground clearance but you will struggle with maintenance & spare parts availability. Mechanics will also mess up the electrical for you. It won't be tolerant to abuse like the Camry.

For uber business, it's a no brainer. The only reason you may want to pick the Rogue over the Camry is to stand out.
You can still achieve ground clearance with the Camry. Get a 205/75R16 Tyre then raise the shocks by 1" and you are good to go.

I drive a nissan Altima 2010 model 6 years how .

I hear people talk about Camry and I just laugh
Please respectfully if you don’t know cars just listen

Camry has a terrible engine ..tell me which engine sells most in Ladipo? Dey play
That useless 2Az Engine before you know it’s knocking sound . Engine for Camry and gear box is so expensive.
Consumes oil like crazy .

Nissan rogue Engine does not damage unless you’re foolish .
Nissan rogue gearbox is solid please don’t drive like it’s a sports car .just drive like a human being
And if they both go bad bro your Engine for this nissan rouge is 250k. Gear box is about 400k (you drop your old or bad one and they reduce money to like 300k for you..
Which Toyota can you get these prices ?

Make Toyota Dey deceive una 😂😂😂
