Bro birthed a child, saw the actual cost of raising a child in the receeding economy we are in today, and choose to lock in, like mad, and he hasn't even looked back since then!!😤😩...5 projects out in one calendar year is such a generational run...i absolutely loved that for him.👏🏿
Dude talk say we must forget say him ever portray Sparkly Vampire. 😂😂

He's also damn very talented and can switch roles. If you want serious, he's got it. Silly roles, he's got it. Sad look, happy look, geek, normie, anything, he gets am.

I just love the way he chooses his projects. Works with Indie studios or majors. Franchise films or originals and he works with some of the most respectable filmmakers.

Seems he's in love with WB and A24.

Take the risk for our sake, good sir

Horror— the gift that keeps giving. 😎
It's been Hollywood's lifeline post pandemic especially low budget ones but I hope this one isn't another skinamarink or the Blair witch project with their deceptive marketing that ended up being thrash

I just realized I'm part of the problem because the only horror I'm looking forward to is backrooms, an already existing IP, later I go dey complain say Hollywood doesn't give us anything new

Obsession has been having great reviews from many people and audience online. The hype looks organic.

That Backrooms no dey Jinja me watch at all. Cos the trailer is one weird ahh shït.... Looks to be too weird for my liking it smells it'd be a borefest.
But weirdly enough, the film looks like it would over perform at the box office even beating Mandalorian this weekend.

In terms of horror, what I'm the most anticipating is what DC has cooked with Clayface. I might pop into the cinema for it if the economics is right.

He is currently my favourite genre of actors. Actors who aren't afraid to take roles from ambitious indie filmamkers and also from well established big studio backed filmamkers, just to flex their acting dexterity.

Sebastian Stan, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver are in this same genre...top top actors 🫶🏿

That Sebastian Stan na another Odogwu. I can't wait to see what he does with The Batman 2. Oscar Isaac as well is pretty good.
Adam Driver also versatile but e be like say e don dey tey wey Driver feature for big franchise film since Star Wars unless I don dey forget things.

Man needs to come out and announce himself. It's like he's been on the low-key recently. Cos until you mention am I don dey forget say him still dey industry.

Just finished watching DEEP COVER 2025

So the movie was about how three different person came up together to infiltrate a drug lord.
So three unsuccessful person met each other and a shady police officer who's into drug business, lied to them that they should try and infiltrate a drug business owner. In doing so things escalate.

So my rating on the movie.
the storyline of the movie was ok and perfect 👌, so the plot too was ok too,

but some scene in the movies was below par, example is when the policemen are chasing the deep cover. Imagine police are using car to chase person riding bicycle in an open space and they can't meet up and arrest one rider . the scene look awful,
With the types of bicycle they ride in that scene someone running will even catch up with them.

I thinks that's only problem I have with the movie

Was surprised that the ratings of this movies was 6.7/10 on imdb
Don't know the reason why the movie is below 7

From the storyline to the plot I think everything was perfect except the part where the police were chasing the 3 improv

the last scene in the movie when the 3 improv try and save fly, I think the scene felt less unrealistic just a bit though, imagine the 3 improv try and snatch someone in the middle of a drug business transaction and what's stopping the both gang in shooting them plus fly to death? Leaving the 3 to make a demand .funny😅

But the scene was good though.

So i rate it 8/10
It suppose be 10 but the 2 scene i don't like in the movies drop the ratings down to 8.

Mk 2.

I felt nothing at all.

Some fight scenes were entertaining like King Lao.

But it was quiet anticlimactic. Watch if you're a fan and avoid if you're looking for something deep.

I'm still trying to understand the appeal of this film. But yeah, it's on a phenomenal box office run as well as Obsession.

Horror— the only genre that can give you this kind of crazy returns.

I wasn't necessarily sold on the trailers as it feels like the ending is going to disappoint... But make we dey see.
Anyways, this is easily becoming A24's highest grossing film ever.

This is crazy....

But in hindsight, Superman and F4 both releasing so close to each other cannibalised their box office run. So, it isn't really a flex using such comparisons.

It is a big flex for "Obsession" considering it's budget... nobody told those other 2 to release close to each other, and releasing close to each other, wasn't really what "cannibalised" their box office run tbf, they weren't high quality flicks, and weren't showing what people needed to see at the time...they were even lucky, they broke even, after much mental accounting gymnastics that is.

Barbie (2023) and Oppie (2023) literally released the same day, the latter was shy of a bill and the former did a bill, so....🤷🏿‍♂️

Uhm, Barbie and Oppenheimer are totally different types of movies. That's what they call counter programming.
Not Superman and F4 that are cut from the same cloth.

F4 broke even. SUPERMAN made profit.

I also find it funny at times when peeps online always come up with Barbieheimer anytime they want to use two big blockbuster films coexisting together as a counter point to other films failing. What I'll say is can you bring at least 5 different instances in the past decade where this phenomenon of two big films coexisting together without affecting each others gross.

The Barbieheimer discourse, I also deem it as Apples to Oranges. Because they're different genre and target very different audiences. So how come y'all always come up with those two.

Bring me two similar genres of films, same target audience. It's not as if one was targeting R rated and older audiences. Exactly the same audience and demographic. And similar vibes for SUPES and F4.

This is also the same Barbie many people never believed in or thought could go toe-to-toe with Oppenheimer even amongst members in this thread.

These two films you're comparing with others are coming from two struggling franchises coming off the back of weaker films. You dey use struggling DC and Marvel dey compare entirely new and different films like Oppenheimer and Barbie with no initial baggage.

If not why are people concerned about Dune Part 3 releasing same day as Avengers: Doomsday?

Can you in all honesty tell me that Interstellar and Gravity would make the same money nonetheless, if they released two weeks from each other?

Films of similar genre or catering to the same audience have been released all the time, and there are instances where both were successful...read up on the concept of "Twin film"... The ones i can clearly recall is "The Prestige (2006) and "The Illusionist" (2006), released weeks from each other, catered to the same audience, and both were relatively successful, i think Amargeddon (1998) and Deep Impact (1998) too.

My point is, let me state it clearly. Superman (2025) and F4 (2025) not doing particularly well at the box office, has nothing to do with them releasing so close to each other. It is basically to the Super-hero genre down bad at the time (or still is sef), and both didn't really set a high bar and didn't leave any lasting impression. If not you mentioned them now, i have almost entirely forgotten these movies were a thing last year. I might want to agree with you, that they were coming off, weaker franchises and weaker films at the time, but still, they didn't hold their own....and Superman made profit??..wow?! because WB were so sneaky in releasing the entire details, so i couldn't even tell 😩

Trust me if 2 filmmakers, make a film of similar genre and decides to put them out at the same time, trust me, people are trooping in to see both, and both will duly make money.

The litmus test for this argument I'd think would be "Obsession" and "Backrooms", with the former starting it's theatrical run, yesterday, i am certain it will make money, but let's see.

If you aren't a fan of Kane Parsons, you won't understand. I'm just glad Hollywood is loosing it's weight to smaller creators especially YouTubers, first Markiplier's Iron Lung now Parson's Backrooms and una sef dey fear to accept change because it questions the authority of Hollywood

An established IP whose genre is horror (the genre Hollywood have been riding post pandemic) helmed by a YouTuber with a massive following, it was a prime recipe for success
