What he should have meant was players Madrid were forced to sell against the club's interest, popularly called a 'forced transfer'.

Alvarez is a player both the club and coach needs at the moment to remain competitive. They do not have an internal replacement or an external prospect at the moment.

This hardly is ever the case with Madrid. The worst Madrid will do is to sell because it has another player in mind to sign which it feels is better for the team or more acceptable/adaptable to the style of the coach, not ever for monetary reasons.

Madrid has an bottomless pipeline of credit, subject to FFP. Madrid will only sell for sporting reasons.
