Makinde Meets Families Of Abducted Oyo Teachers & Students, Promises Safe Return by SecuritybriefNg(op): 7:30am On May 31
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has met with the families of teachers and students who were abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, assuring them that efforts are ongoing to secure the safe release of their loved ones.

The visit comes amid growing concern over the fate of the victims, who have reportedly remained in captivity for about two weeks. During the meeting, the governor listened to the worries and frustrations of family members, many of whom have been anxiously waiting for positive news since the abduction occurred.

Makinde reassured the families that the state government, alongside security agencies, is actively working to ensure the victims return home safely. He expressed optimism that the abducted teachers and students would soon be reunited with their families.

The kidnapping has drawn attention across the country, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the increasing cases of abductions targeting schools, communities, and travelers.

For the affected families, however, the focus remains on one thing: the safe return of their loved ones.

As rescue efforts continue, many residents hope the governor’s assurance will soon translate into positive results and bring relief to families who have spent days living with uncertainty and fear.

Nigeria should be topping the list of the most dangerous place to live on earth.

It doesn’t make sense to me how group of persons are kidnapped in numbers without being noticed and also sickening to hear from former CDS now Minister of Defence that kidnapping happens everywhere which shows the nonsensical and shallow-minded persons leading this country.

In 2026 where there are a lot of technologies to find crime, Nigeria should have nothing to do with kidnapping unless someone somewhere is using this medium to launder money in cash.

This people are not ready for what they call governance. I am still baffled how a bandit/terrorist will pick up a phone, make calls with it and we can't trace their whereabouts

In a sane clime, it can never happen, only if you don't make contacts with your phone.

The government is very clueless and useless at the same time.

Funny enough, if these bandits were arrested they will be pampered and released.

This is what is encouraging crime in the society.

After how many days, all for politics,he couldn't even visit the place but had them brought to him like an emperor......obidients wouldn't condemn this but will wail for tinubu meeting with families of victims in the last jos killings at the airport, they misconstrued his "you have no light"comment claiming he was insulting them for not providing electricity but what he meant was runway lighting wasn't available and his aircraft wouldn't be able to take off at night.

The prayer is to prevent this from ever happening. Once it happens and they have the victims, it becomes extremely difficult to rescue the victim without risk to their lives.
Victims families and loved ones will literally beg security agencies not to interfere if they thought giving in to the kidnappers demand is within their ability.

My concern is the fact that even after victims are released, the security agencies still seems to be bereft of ideas on what to do to apprehend the criminals

Must Seyi Makinde politicize everything?

Help get the children out and stop the optics?

Amotekun should priortise schools, churches and the forest in southwest.
This is the ABC of any proactive south west governor

The grandparents and parents of the kidnapped children voted massively for Tinubu in 2023 and are warming up to do same next year.

The rain has gotten to their roofs.

Serves them very right.

I listen to someone who was kidnapped share her experiences. She said the kidnappers make use of the phones of their victims to make the calls and they move their victims to another location which makes tracking them down a bit difficult. They have many locations they keep their hostages. What Davido said is true "this country is gone".

The power of the Media can not be over emphasize.
Over fourty children was also kidnapped in Bornu same week, but people hardly talk about them..
Even Thier own people.
It's people don't care much about what happened to the northerns.
A lot of politics is going on in this country.
And the politicians are using the poor people for their politics

Think of best solution. Think of Oduduwa Republic.
How happy one is about one's country matters most, not how big or rich one's country is.

The other side had adopted unconstitutional Islamic sharia criminal justice system and deploys foot soldiers to get Islamic Republic of Nigeria.

In the Nigerian constitution, the chief of armed forces AKA the president is the one that actually has the authority to call the armed forces into action on cases of terrorism such as this. So on that matter, he is right

That one made a political choice must not amount to kidnap of one's offspring;

even though PBAT is known for antagonising ethnic groups that did not vote for him.

He's wrong. Security is everybody's business. Yes, president is commander- in - chief but that doesn't hinder the Governors'access to security agencies when the need arises. Since he posited security is exclusively Tinubu's business, why did he spend ₦7.7billion of state's resources on surveillance aircraft in 2005( till today, the aircraft hasn't been delivered)? He should stop the flimsy excuse and take responsibility.
