You see what happens when you let some select people choose and install people on your behalf? They WILL NEVER represent you. That's what this Desmond Elliot story shows us once again. The Barakat lady replacing him too will only work as a stooge.

This is what happens when parents do everything for their children, they never learn how to withstand the world challenges or fight for things, their parents did everything for them. They don't know their worth.

After Bucknor and Pedro showed Tinubu shege, they started going for female deputy governors. The ones who will not fight them. This is not to put the women down but we all know how it went with those deputies who were female. That's what is going on in Lagos. You will never get your true representative because these people did not fight for the seats. Even if they tried to fight, the party they came in through only annointed them for guaranteed victory at the polls. Until you have someone who did all the work, earned it in the primary and elections, you will only have representatives of babasopecracy consensus. Fake democracy.

Let me correct the writer who said
Former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is today a member of the influential Governance Advisory Council (GAC), the highest decision-making body in Lagos APC, largely because he accepted defeat gracefully after losing the governorship primary to the party’s preferred candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Rather than defect or head to court, Ambode congratulated Sanwo-Olu and pledged loyalty to the party. Desmond Elliot should take a cue from that example.

Big fat lie. Ambode that called Sanwoolu mad and did worse than Elliot. Abeg talk another thing. They have arranged themsleves. Even Pedro is now an Ambassador but you see that WOMAN, Bucknor. She no gree for Bola. Again, know your worth and what you are fighting for.

Ambode gave a live broadcast after the defeat but don't forget that he didn't attend the handover ceremony, instead, he handed one day before May 29 at a private event. Also Ambode lost through the primaries, at least they allowed that to happen. Did you hear what Desmond said? "Even if I will lose, let me lose gallantly". He complained about intimidation of delegates so there is a difference in losing through indirect babasopecracy and direct vote. At least they pretended to vote for Ambode's own. The truth is that some people are at the background rigging the system. They don't want true votes. If it was consensus of the delegates, it is different but here there is compulsion, intimidation and threats to select one candidate. What a shame.
You are just everywhere without actually arriving at your point. So what exactly are you suggestng? we should try NDC's style?

Did your forefathers (with due respect) told you this?

If they did, they are wrong, let me educate you and them, so that next time you can correct their usual grandstanding and historical amnesia on others history, and check their love to claiming others endowments as theirs.

The term Lagos came from "Lagos de curamo", a Portuguese phrase that implies Lagos is akin to the island of the Portuguese it's named after.

The naming of Lagos was 16th century or earlier, Egba was not founded then.

Egba was established in the year 1830, in Igbo Egba, by internally displaced Yoruba people of the interior, sacked by the Oyo and the jihadists from their original homes.

These people arrived at the realm known as igbo Egba, looking for a new site. They eventually settled at Abeokuta.

Their enemies were many and the reason they were attacked often by Dahomey was because Dahomey (Egun) believed that it's sphere of influence extended to where the new Egba country has pitched it's tent.

Coming back to the Egun and Awori, the folks have always been at the corridor they are found today. You are ignorantly cherry picking.

And as for the íjebu, if you have clue, you should understand that Epe and Ikorodu, eastward part of Lagos is peopled by the Ijebus. If you can be ignorant of this, then you know nothing about the subject.

You can always make case for your Egba as you people always like to make claims that makes you happy and grab it all.

But you are late comers sha.
There is no point dragging with you.. real Yorubas know those who came to our lands to settle from Cotonou.

FYI, Lagos was originally named Eko.. the real name of Lagos State is "Ilu Eko" not the Portuguese hogwash you're claiming.

Reading involves both deduction and interpretation. It is not simply the process of recognizing words on a page, but also understanding their meaning and drawing conclusions from the information provided. Through deduction, readers use clues in the text to infer ideas that are not directly stated. Interpretation allows readers to analyze the author's message, themes, and intentions, giving deeper meaning to what they read. Therefore, effective reading requires readers to think critically, make inferences, and interpret the text beyond its literal meaning.

You are very welcome.

You don't know what you're saying.

There's nothing called "ilu Eko" it's always "Isale Eko".

You are being clever by half, I believe everyone who ask you guys for clarification instantly become an Igbo.

If you are rooting for Yoruba owning Lagos as ilu Eko, and that Egun came from Cotonou, where did ketu in Republic of Benin came from and when?

And your original Yoruba are always ignorant people who thinks like you.

May I tell you, the colonial powers of the 19th century invented "countries" in west Africa and other places around the world that fell to their dominion.

People whose lands ended in the shores have relationships that trace back to millennium, such as the Yoruba and the Egun in this case.

The Yoruba might have well came from Cotonou, you don't need to take a partial position if you want to start a research.

Each of this people will naturally have colonies dotting the litoral region because they were seafaring people.

Your closest neighbors will naturally have colonies in your homeland because they have common history with you due to the natural distribution of tribes.

What does badagry mean?

And by the way, badagry comes from Egun-Yoruba: it means agba-do-arigi (Egun) or agbadarigi (Yoruba) meaning the earth (agba) has gotten to (d') the coastline ridges (erigi alo, rigi).

So, people moved freely within their neighborhood and build up colonies as early as where you claim they came from came to existence. Accord them that honor.

You guys never cease to amaze me. What makes me sad is that the Yoruba allowes Tinubu to plant this kind of concept all in the name of politics. Truly, they say

How you guys assume everyone who comments on what your principals do must mean they are from the SE needs to be studied. Just because you lost an election. Smh. I understand that's the mission they gave you guys to spread online but don't worry, one day, they will leave power. Nothing lasts forever.

Shows you don't understand the context of what "true Lagosian" means.

Can you make someone who originated in Egba a political leader (deputy governor or governor) in Osun state all because he or she is Yoruba?

Can you transfer what should be for an Ekiti indegen to the Ijesa because both were neighbors?

There's different between state of origin and ethnicity, people who don't get that often think they know a lot, but that's not true.

I'm not the reason the first guy that quoted me is so ignorant. Try and digest the context between "history" and "population" as basic topics in social studies, basic knowledge in subject differentiation count sometimes.

Knowledge is a little beyond just blind arguments.

Thanks.

Show what I wrote to your economics professor. Nigeria is struggling to generate more than 20% of the revenue needed to cater for 250million people.

You are talking about the lavish life 3000 - 5000 people are living by allocating more salaries to themselves.

Nigeria is desperately POOR!!!!

You have a point there. But it's a public forum, an unlimited canvas. We usually don't want posts to distract us from the main topic. Normally, a quote would do it but I chose to repost. Now when I reposted, I put in bold the relevant part, the rest is just connected one way or the other to the topic eg primaries and fighting for your position. While the original post was from a topic related to Elliot, most of the thoughts are relevant to this current topic.
