By Danjuma Lamido As Nigeria approaches another critical electoral cycle in 2027, citizens are once again confronted with the responsibility of choosing a leader capable of addressing the nation’s multifaceted challenges and unlocking its immense potential. The task before Nigerians is not merely to elect a president but to identify a statesman with the vision, experience, competence, and courage required to reposition the country for sustainable growth and national prosperity. Among the political figures seeking to shape Nigeria’s future, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar stands out as a leader whose record, experience, and policy direction provide compelling reasons for support. His long-standing commitment to national development, economic reform, restructuring, and inclusive governance makes him uniquely qualified to lead Nigeria at this critical juncture. One of Atiku Abubakar’s greatest strengths lies in the rare combination of cognitive and hands-on experience he has acquired over several decades as both a successful entrepreneur and a distinguished public office holder. Few Nigerian politicians possess such extensive exposure to the practical realities of wealth creation and public administration. He understands the nuances of free enterprise and the language of public service reforms. This dual experience gives him a unique perspective on how government policies affect businesses, workers, investors, and ordinary citizens. As Vice President of Nigeria and Head of the National Economic Council, Atiku played a pivotal role in driving some of the most significant economic reforms in the country’s recent history. Under his guidance, Nigeria witnessed a telecommunications revolution that transformed the nation from a country with limited telephone access into one of Africa’s largest telecommunications markets. The liberalization of the telecom sector opened new opportunities, attracted massive investments, and created millions of direct and indirect jobs for Nigerians. The success of those reforms earned Nigeria a respectable place in the hall of fame of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and demonstrated what visionary leadership can achieve when guided by sound economic principles. The telecommunications revolution remains one of the most impactful policy successes in Nigeria’s democratic history. It connected millions of Nigerians to the global economy, expanded financial inclusion, enhanced communication, and created a vibrant digital ecosystem that continues to drive economic activity today. Such achievements are evidence of Atiku’s capacity to implement transformative reforms with lasting benefits. Beyond his economic credentials, Atiku Abubakar has consistently championed one of the most important conversations in Nigeria’s political evolution: restructuring. Unlike many political actors who embrace restructuring only during election seasons, Atiku has remained unwavering in his advocacy for a restructured federation. To him, restructuring is not merely a political slogan. It is a comprehensive framework for national renewal. His vision extends beyond socio-political restructuring to include economic recalibration that would bring governance closer to the people, strengthen local institutions, encourage self-sufficiency among the federating units, and unleash the productive capacities of every region of the country. Through restructuring, states and regions would be empowered to harness their resources, develop competitive advantages, and contribute more effectively to national growth. Atiku believes that Nigeria’s over-centralized governance structure has constrained development and limited innovation. By devolving powers and responsibilities, the country can stimulate economic activities, encourage healthy competition among states, and create an environment where both the primary and service sectors can thrive. Such an approach would generate jobs, expand opportunities, and reduce dependence on federal allocations. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s vision for Nigeria is fundamentally centered on national unity, economic restructuring, and transformational reform. He recognizes that sustainable development can only occur in an atmosphere of peace, justice, and inclusivity. His leadership philosophy is built on the conviction that every Nigerian, regardless of ethnic, religious, or regional background, deserves equal opportunities and fair treatment. On the issue of security, Atiku has consistently advocated innovative and practical solutions to address the country’s growing challenges. His vision entails implementing community-based policing tailored to local realities to better protect citizens and improve intelligence gathering at the grassroots level. He understands that security challenges vary across regions and require localized responses supported by strong federal coordination. Furthermore, he prioritizes a decisive response to regional insecurity, including insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, and communal conflicts, so that Nigerians can safely go about their daily lives. Security remains the foundation upon which economic growth and social progress are built, and Atiku’s approach seeks to restore confidence among citizens, investors, and development partners. In a nation facing ethnic and religious divides, Atiku’s vision champions inclusivity, religious tolerance, and equity. He recognizes that Nigeria’s diversity should be a source of strength rather than division. His commitment to nation-building is reflected in his advocacy for a society that respects the contributions of women, the physically challenged, and Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups. He envisions a country where merit, fairness, and equal opportunity guide public policy. Such an inclusive approach is essential for fostering national cohesion and ensuring that every Nigerian feels a sense of belonging in the national project. Education and healthcare also occupy a central place in Atiku’s development agenda. He has consistently emphasized the need for substantial investment in human capital development, recognizing that no nation can achieve sustainable progress without an educated and healthy population. Atiku is an advocate for substantial investment in education and healthcare, aiming to equip young Nigerians with the modern skills required to succeed in an increasingly competitive global economy. He understands that the future belongs to nations that invest in knowledge, innovation, technology, and human capacity. By improving educational standards and expanding access to quality healthcare, Nigeria can unlock the potential of millions of young people and position itself as a leading force in Africa and beyond. As the 2027 presidential election approaches, Nigerians must carefully evaluate the credentials, experience, and vision of those seeking to lead the country. The challenges facing Nigeria require more than rhetoric; they demand competence, proven leadership, and a clear roadmap for national transformation. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar offers a combination of entrepreneurial success, administrative experience, economic expertise, and reform-minded leadership that is difficult to match. His commitment to restructuring, economic growth, national unity, security, education, healthcare, and inclusive governance reflects a comprehensive vision for Nigeria’s future. The choice before Nigerians in 2027 will shape the country’s trajectory for generations to come. For those seeking a leader with a proven record of reform, a deep understanding of governance and business, and a clear commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous, and more united Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar presents a compelling option worthy of serious consideration https://swiftreporters.com/why-nigerians-should-vote-for-atiku-abubakar-in-2027/

I think this could be his last chance. If he picks Amaechi, he may likely win if the North stand by him with votes already shared in the South by Obi, GEJ, and BAT |

Sorry, nobody is voting Atiku, apart from the people from North East and parts of North West. It is not the turn of the North yet. Atiku should go and relax. |

We can consider him in 2031 but 2027 is still Tinubu O' clock |

IamPatriotic:It was not the "turn of the South" in 2007 after 8 years of Obasanjo but Ojukwu contested the presidency under APGA. No Northerner cried about it. Zoning is purely a party affair. Anyone saying otherwise is being clever by half. With regards Atiku’s chances, despite the Southeast/Southsouth giving Obi 95% of their votes in 2023, Atiku came second with 6.9m votes in an election where Northerners carried Tinubu on their heads and gave him 5.6m votes. You can do the maths or continue to bury your head in the sand. The choice is yours. |

Atiku should sit down and allow the younger ones run. He is a perennial presidential candidate |

AMINDA:Atiku, apart from being broke and can't rubbostly finace a presidential election campaign like he used to do, has no path to victory, that's why his pre-campaign activities have been relatively quiet. Tinubu will "defeat" with wider margin in 2027, nothing will happen. |

Atiku can never become Nigeria President. He should quit and put someone there |

AMINDA:Atiku entered the 2023 election with the full weight of the PDP's entrenched political machinery behind him, including the support of 14 governors and decades-old electoral structures. Peter Obi, by contrast, was leading a relatively new movement with little more than grassroots enthusiasm and a legion of committed supporters. Yet, according to INEC's declared results, he still secured over 6.1 million votes in his first standalone presidential campaign, versus Atiku's 6.9 million votes. That reality should not be ignored. More importantly, the political environment has changed considerably since then. The structures and advantages Atiku enjoyed in 2023 are no longer as formidable or as unified under the ADC banner. While he will undoubtedly poll substantial votes in the North, I remain convinced that he neither can nor will win the presidency. The momentum and chance is with Peter Obi if NDC can adequately man the poll units and count the votes. |

I can not help but agree with you completely! Atiku is going into 2027 weaker than he was in the 2023 elections. ottersberger: |
