2027: Tinubu will win landslide, I won’t support Peter Obi – Babachir Lawal

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal, has predicted a landslide victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Lawal made the remark while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, shortly after announcing his resignation from the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in a post on his Facebook page.

The former SGF said he had decided to step away from active politics, citing dissatisfaction with the way politics is practised in Nigeria.

According to him, he would rather focus on other pursuits, including agriculture and church-related activities.

“I’ve just come to the conclusion that in Nigerian politics, everybody is… I don’t understand how it’s practised. I don’t know how it should be practised. Maybe there are some Nigerians who know to run their things. I don’t want to be part of anything again,” he said.

Lawal, who was a member of the opposition coalition that recently adopted the ADC as its political platform, argued that Tinubu would be difficult to defeat in the next election.

“Tinubu will win with landslide. If the parameter for winning the election in Nigeria is rigging, nobody can face Bola Tinubu.

“If Atiku’s strength is in manipulating results, he will meet the master leader in the front next year. And so they will be all the worse for it,” Lawal stated.

The former SGF also added that he won’t be supporting me Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC. He said didn’t want to be part of anything again.

“I won’t support Peter Obi. I don’t want to be part of anything again,” Lawal said.

What exactly is your point and why are you crying? Did you call him a grass cutter scammer when he was supporting Peter Obi in 2023? If you have no problem with him supporting Obi or joining the now failed ADC coalition, why are you now lamenting when he's no longer backing any of your favorite candidates?

You are asking what exactly is my point? My point is that I have been calling him a Grass Cutter scammer all along, and I haven't stopped. Unlike some people, I don't suddenly discover selective amnesia whenever a politician is heading to my preferred party.

The real question is: did you stop calling him a Grass Cutter scammer when he was supporting Peter Obi? Because I seem to remember many Tinubu/APC supporters of which you are a prominent one, using that label every chance they got. Now that he's reportedly on his way to the APC, I'm supposed to believe he's suddenly a statesman?

I have no problem with political defections. What I find amusing is watching people like you who spent years condemning a man magically rehabilitate his image the moment he starts moving in their direction.

As for the crying, nobody is crying. I'm simply pointing out the irony that a man who campaigned against the Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2023 may soon be defending and selling the same mandate he once condemned, a mandate many Nigerians associate with hardship and death.

In 2023, he was the one who picked up Tinubu's nomination form before pretending to leave the party shortly after due to muslim-muslim ticket where he, along with Tinubu's moles like Doyin Okupe ensured opposition votes got balkanised by luring Obi away from PDP. Fastforward to 2016 he pretended to be a member of the coalition where he sabotaged the party in Adamawa, ensuring Binani and Abbo left and imposed his cousin as the gubernatorial candidate.

He allegedly received money from Hayatudeen, another Fulaniman, while promising to deliver Adamawa and the NE to him only to be outsmarted by Atiku. He then turns around to accuse Atiku of being a Fulani supremacist. The irony. The ADC is stronger without him.

The only highlight is him saying he won't support Peter Obi. He didn't say anything bad about him but just decided not to join his train. So he doesn't want Tinubu (who he said will rig), Atiku (who he accused of writing result). The option left that he didn't fault, he said he doesn't want anything to do with him.
