The presidency has described the followers of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as the tigers of social media.

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, said this on Monday during an interview on News Central Television.

Bwala said that social media has changed citizen engagement with public figures, allowing direct criticism of leaders online.

“If you want to know for the records, the tigers of social media are Peter Obi’s followers.

Everybody knows. Some of them live abroad, where the data is free. Some in Nigeria, they have access to some of those things, most of them are in the tech. They have done a lot of manipulation.

“That is not to say there are other political parties where there are no people like that. I will be the last to say, but if you are talking of tigers, then it’s the Obidients,” he said.

When asked if he pays people to use the internet and defend the government, Bwala said, “I don’t pay anybody for anything.

“If I was a paying type, all this agenda that was cooked against me during the Medi Hassan interview, I would have sold my family land to be defending agenda.”

Daniel Bwala is a shadow of his former self.

Every now and then, he throws Peter Obi's name into the conversation just to remain relevant.

That interview with Mehdi Hasan dealt a devastating blow to whatever little credibility he had left.

He is no longer taken seriously even within the Presidency. He is merely being allowed to hang around and bide his time until the day he is finally shown the door, after which he will quietly fade into obscurity

The 2027 Presidential Elections will have the biggest consequential footprint from the Social Media.

As a professional Political Scientist or trained Politician, it's natural to periodically guage changing Political Behavior

YouTube conducted a search on the age categories and what is widely watched amongst its youth audience and discovered that finance/ investment & politics related posts are the most watched by the 19-45 years categories.

NCC also reported that Nigeria gained a whooping 20million new data subscribers onboard in year 2025 i.e 2millon new data subscribers monthly.

Social media and data penetration even in Northern Nigeria will be evident in a free and fair election in 2027.

PO dominance and organic support on SM will be an advantage.

The NL poll on this thread is totally baseless to me and has NO correlation to the "Tiger" comments made by this Bwala dude. Any use of gross disinformation by followers of some political parties to manipulate the masses and to openly call for a Military coup online and offline MUST be condemned as it shows that these IRRESPONSIBLE followers do NOT believe in democratic values and the TRUTH.

It was an IRRESPONSIBLE and desperate attempt to "demarket" Kassim Shettima because they wanted their own candidate to win the Presidential election.

The BBC Global Disinformation Team was set up to FACT-CHECK online stories due to the FACT that a few years back, the official BBC website was cloned and used to spread disinformation and it was ONLY after 21 days that BBC knew about the fake website after being alerted by loyal BBC listeners.
