So I called an installer for quotation for one project like that and this man shocked me today. He is recommending 10mm Ac cable for the PV (Is this even possible?) I've heard bassdow talk about using thick Nepa Aluminum wires in place of dc cable to save cost, so which one this installer dey call 10mm normal AC wire 😂. Told him straight up I want DC cable coz I no fit shout. Abeg make una educate us if this is feasible and what are the likely risks involved for educational purposes. |

jFrankNorfleet:The typical power is what it actually uses under normal daily conditions(30w) then the max consumption is 72w(meaning if you use the max brightness, or other settings that can increase power consumption). Then the standby isn't up to 5w. I used this tv for 4years and gave it out recently. It's a good buy |

Unfaized:if you doing high voltage solar setUp, where you mostly series the solar panels in a single string, you could get away with 6mm Copper cable though I often suggest minimum of 10mm for future proof so you don't find yourself having to replace cables it no longer fits after upgrades. As for the NEPA Aluminium cable I often suggest, it's mostly for those who can't afford Copper cable (NEW / USEd) and for that, it works because it's what I use for one of my setUps since Yaradua's government. If you want to properly replace copper with Aluminium, you would need a thickness times 3 of the copper equivalent e.g if you needed 6mm copper, you go for 18mm Aluminium but that's only if your current is very high e.g doing 3s3p with 400w solar panels else those ones they sell down the street for less than 20,000 naira a bundle would happyly serve you even if you do 5S2p. But then again, whoEver is doing the installation need know how to connect them as Aluminium is soft + you can't just twist it anyHow like you do with copper |

Thanks. I have checked it. No looseness. The battery is charging, just that the inverter doesn't make any noise again when it is charging. Before, it use to produce some humming noise while charging Tdoctor: |

Thanks so much. The TV also started shutting down the inverter this morning. But bulb and Fan are still working fine. bassdow: |

Update!!! I called the engineer to help me diagnose. He detected that the battery terminal going from battery to the inverter was burnt and partly broken. Reason for the tripping off when using heavy appliances. He changed the wire and everything is working fine now. Thanks to everybody who offered advice on how to go about the problem. I appreciate each suggestion. Hi Engineers! My 5Kva Felicity Solar inverter now goes off immediately Nepa takes light. It can't power most of my home appliances anymore without it tripping off. It has been powering every items in my house since I bought it 2 years ago but now, anytime I put on AC, Fridge or TV, it goes off. Bulbs and Fans are still working fine. Also, I noticed that the inverter has stopped making the humming sound or noise when charging with Nepa light. It is always quiet now when charging. Please, I would love to know if the inverter or battery is what is faulty. Attached is the picture of the inverter setup Thanks

I learnt the little I know here, I knew that there are better ones but I just needed to start as at then , and to be frank the battery have saved be alot of bills and contributions for this my street. | Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by AyarmBoye(m): 1:25pm On Jun 03 |
bassdow:chief even those used batteries sef nah luck…not many of us can identify good used batteries.A friend used a voltmeter to read one battery showing 13.8v ,.he bought it thinking it’s good and clean..only for the battery to drop to 11.6v under load…Bad battery ! |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 2:17pm On Jun 03 |
HustlingHustler:it's safe to wanna assume the battery is gone BUT would suggest getting an experienced person to examine your setUp. A properly cared for battery of good / average quality shouldn't packUp within 2 years |

AyarmBoye:Started with powmr pwm 80a and 4 200wat used pannels. Later got 4 420w pannels (used) but connected 3 cuz of roof space, connected the 3 420 to sms mppt 60A. So far so good even as I type everywhere good so long as say sun the shine. My Airtel 2.5kwh frm cdcare will soon arrive and moving man go still the move . |

When I moved from sealed lead battery to a 100ah lithium battery, It was like I was blind and now I can see. The difference is like night and day. I am currently on a 12v system but with a 4kw battery. Next upgrade náà 48v. Me sef Wan dey use a and induction cooker prince4pro2: |

prince4pro2:sharp… the best investment is that your lifepo4 u just bought…you will enjoy it….. I use a transformer based inverter with my lithium battery (solar for charging with Mppt cc) I want to upgrade to hybrid transformerless but my problem is lightning,,I have much here during raining season and I Dey fear for the inverter..my current inverter is rugged and I haven’t even had issues since I got it even with all the lightning thunder I no Dey put am off.. I just one relate the later innovation but I Dey fear…I heard hybrid is more efficient in term of power consumption |
