I already lost almost 3M but am still standing firm. My stop loss hasn’t triggered so far but I have stopped topping up for now. I know that people will say this is the time to average out but I am strategic about my portfolio

I think this will adversely affect the NGX especially when Tesla is also lined up...

Yes, however, you have to do "DCA" to get good returns.
What is DCA pls?

If you're based overseas, your best bet is usually sticking to foreign ETFs and solid Nigerian large-cap stocks rather than going with Zedcrest or Paramount. For beginners, using a 50/40/10 split is a great way to keep risks low while you learn the ropes. So far, my foreign investments have done exceptionally well, bringing in much larger gains than my investments back home.
Thank you sir.
That split is across what products? My base is flexible so I'm looking at investing in both places. I've read up quite a bit of the thread and some some research on my own but I'm particularly clueless about the UK side of things still.

As of April 17th, Zedcrest was still giving bullish runs not until May 18th. Good you have a stop loss amount because the market as it is will bleed for a long time. It’s better to see the loss in a portfolio managed by yourself.
Re: Equity Investment. by CSblackpink(m): 12:08am On Jun 04
50% foreign stocks, 40% large-cap stocks, and the remaining 10% to equity fund managers. Moreover, you have to really keep an eye on the foreign stocks portfolio. I do top up twice a week, and as of now, I am getting more than the daily percentage, and if it goes south, I will also burn as well. (Market returns +1%, I will make +$105-+$106)

Why do you say the market will bleed for a long time? For someone looking to buy some equity fund, when is best to go in?

[quote author=mizGene post=139614243]With all due respect stick to what you know and I’ll stick to mine. It’s my money not yours. How can you say there’s nothing strategic about what am doing? No wonder people are staying quiet on this forum because of systemic bullying by the likes of you. You can make welcomed constructive criticism politely without using such tone.

Do you really need this if you're investing for a long term (2-3 year)? By the time you withdraw and put the money back when it starts booming again, you've missed like 5% of gain.

It's only if you're investing for just a year or some months you should withdraw when things go down.
Re: Equity Investment. by DataAnalyst2022: 2:02pm On Jun 04
Someone should advise me. Is it true that Equity should not be left as a long term investment? What is the max time is considerably safe and advisable to leave them on?
Equity to me is not lock and forget, stocks with good fundamentals that i believe you can switch off from checking either bull or bear for 5 years

I moved it into mmf temporarily. I understand that I might lose some gains later. Thanks

I'd rather miss the first few minutes of the party than be there for the whole disaster. If avoiding a big loss saves me 30% and I only miss a 5% rebound, I'm still way ahead.

Lol 😂

Nobody has lost 30%

Max is around -5% at the moment.

If you joined the party in January, -5% is nothing out of 60%+

In addition, the market swings as it likes. Now remember you'd be charged for reinvestment when you want to enter again when you think everything is right.
What if after reinvesting, it goes dip again, what will you do? Withdraw or leave it there?
