Residents of Ibadan were thrown into panic on Wednesday after suspected gunmen abducted the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, along with her twin sons.

The victims, identified as Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were reportedly kidnapped at about 7:30 a.m. in the Challenge–Elewura area of Ibadan while she was taking the children to school.

According to reports, the armed men intercepted the victims and whisked them away to an unknown destination, sparking concern among residents and family members. Security agencies were immediately alerted and have since launched investigations and rescue operations.

The family of Chief Adebayo Adelabu confirmed the incident in a statement issued by his media aide, expressing deep distress over the development while remaining hopeful that the victims would be rescued safely. The family also appealed to members of the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information that could hinder ongoing security efforts.

The Oyo State Police Command has assured residents that all necessary resources are being deployed to secure the release of the victims and apprehend those responsible for the abduction.
