Yinka Alaseyori Apologises Over Remarks On Abducted Oyo School Children (Video) by Odewaleadesoye(op): 11:58am On Jun 04
Popular Nigerian gospel musician, Yinka Alaseyori, has publicly apologized to Nigerians over remarks on the abducted school children in Oyo state.

DAILY POST reports that bandits invaded Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on May 15 2026 and abducted 7 teachers and several students.

A few hours after the abduction, the gunmen beheaded one of the teachers in a scary viral video online.

The attack has raised concerns over insecurity in schools and educational institutions nationwide,

Following the government’s inability to secure the release of the kidnapped victims, Labour Union, parents, and many Nigerians have continued to protest across Nigeria.

Reacting to the development in a video on Monday, Yinka Alaseyori who noted that the government is working on the children’s release, urged Nigerians to support president Bola Tinubu and the security agencies with prayers.

Following her remarks, many users including celebrities took to social media to call the singer out and criticize her for not being realistic, insisting that insecurity requires decisive government action rather than religious appeals.

Reacting to backlash, the singer in a new video on Wednesday, tendered a public apology to Nigerians

“Good day everyone, I did a video of about 1 and half hour two days ago, praying for the kidnapped children, grieving families, government parastatal, the military, Nigeria land, and everybody in pain. But when I woke up yesterday I discovered that some well meaning Nigerians are feeling offended because I made them feel unseen or their voices unheard.

“You know me too well that I will never make anybody feel like that. I discovered that the trending video was cut out of the video I made. Mothers, please don’t be angry with me. I begged you in the name of Jesus Christ, you will never bury your children. I beg you in God’s name, please forgive me if I ever speak as if I’m insensitive”,
she said.

Is it curse that lead us to this point?

Better. No be everything you go dey do chochocho because you're now a popular figure. I didn't know why all these GenZ celebrities dont learn from their seniors, just because they want to trend. Someone who used to wear xs-xs-xs wears, which she selected at oshodi under bridge. Her life story was touching but most of them don't remember all that once the become a star.

I learnt she lost thousands of followers, following that statement. As a celebrity sef, you need to be always apolitical because a lot of people across political and ethnic affiliations are your fans. But ntori ijekuje, they soon forget all that.

You deserve every backlash you get. It's your type of mentality that dragged Nigeria to this level we are. Keep praying while government keep failing to do their duties.
Call out nonsense that is being done and say it as it is rather than turning everything to religion/spiritual.

APC supporters and apologists talk before they think because of blind support and overzealous subjective support for bad governance.
She is only apologizing because her music career will nosedive, not because she has remorse for misyarning.

The prayer our forefathers have been doing that lead us to where we are today.

If Israel rely on prayers ni they won't gather that confident and capacity to fight their enemies (terrorists) in the middle east.

Most of gospel celebrities has been brainwashed by religion, physical battle you carry am go spiritual.

You don't need to apologize for your own truth. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. You can't say more than what you don't know and if they lie against you, you don't need to defend their lies, you say your own truth.

Does she think those trolling and bullying her for her opinion wants apology?

They've seen her as a weakling and would always come back .

DAILY POST
I have been trying to understand the outrage and outcry that greeted this woman's call for prayer and support for the President and the armed forces as they work for the release of the Oyo kidnap victims and other kidnap victims across the country. She is a woman of God and a gospel musician and I really do not see what she said that was so bad or insensitive. Could it have anything to do with the fact that she is from the southwest? huh

It is encouraging that she recognized how insensitive her statement was.
Religious leaders should remember that during his earthly ministry, Jesus consistently stood with the people, particularly the poor and marginalized, rather than aligning himself with those in authority when issues affecting the vulnerable were at stake.

There's nothing bad in prayers guy but the biased comment made by her was an unfortunate one. Religous institutions don't have access to guns or security agencies, the president does. All they can do is pray God touches their heart because their hearts are evil. They don't care. Imagine tinubu comparing human life with that of an animal. His response was totally incoherent to the question asked on insecurity by that journalist.
