The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the successful rescue of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a coordinated intelligence-led operation in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The victims, who were abducted on June 3, 2026, while Mrs. John-Paul was driving her children to school, were rescued unharmed at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, during an operation carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT).

Confirming the development in a statement issued on Saturday, Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, said the rescue followed days of sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance and tactical operations aimed at locating the kidnappers and securing the victims' release.

According to the police, investigators successfully tracked the movement of the abductors, leading to a confrontation between members of the kidnapping gang and FID-IRT operatives.

During the exchange, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded, while two rifles were recovered from the criminals.

"The rescue was achieved through sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical operations. These efforts enabled investigators to track the kidnappers’ movements, resulting in a confrontation with FID-IRT operatives,” the statement said.

The police added that Mrs. John-Paul and her children were rescued alive and have since been placed in safe custody, where they are receiving medical attention and necessary support.

The Inspector-General of Police commended the professionalism, courage and resilience displayed by the FID-IRT operatives and other officers involved in the operation, noting that their efforts were instrumental in ensuring the safe rescue of the hostages.

Meanwhile, security agencies have intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who escaped during the operation.

Preliminary intelligence reports indicate that some fleeing suspects may have sustained gunshot wounds during the confrontation. Ongoing operations are focused on tracking and arresting all individuals connected to the abduction.

In a separate statement, Adelabu's Media Aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro, confirmed that the victims had been safely rescued.

“The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State has confirmed that the abducted victims have been rescued and are safe, healthy, and unharmed,” Awogboro stated.

He expressed appreciation to the Nigeria Police Force, other security agencies, members of the media, political associates and stakeholders who supported the rescue efforts and showed concern throughout the ordeal.

“We express our sincere appreciation to the Police and other security agencies, the media, political associates, and all stakeholders for their concern, support, and efforts during this period,” the statement added.

Haha, are you just realizing that most people reason illogically?
Lots of People prefer emotions over logic, especially when a topic aligns with their beliefs or biases ..Once emotions get involved, many stop caring about facts and start looking for information that confirms what they already want to believe....

And again, some of them seem disappointed that the victims were rescued. They would have preferred the victims to be harmed or killed because it would have given them more content to post and more reasons to talk about how the country is the worst place on earth.

It's almost as if bad news brings them more satisfaction than good news. they're upset because the outcome doesn't fit the narrative they were hoping to push.

That family will soon leave Nigeria and relocate to another country till God knows when to visit Nigeria again.

Nigerians have officially turned kidnapping into a business ....we are really doomed ... they can kiss the latest Mercedes and nexus goodbye and prepare for the meeting of the Creator

I think why the Police were swift in rescuing the Adelabu Sister and her twin sons is because the kidnappers live within the city/town unlike the other monsters that live in thick forests, and always moving their victims from one forest in one state to another. My thinking




But then, our forests should not be allowed to be a hiding place for criminals, kidnappers and terrorists, Nigeria need to take over our forests by all means.

I know the society is charged, but extra-judicial killing isn't right either. You don't shoot at an unarmed person except the court of competent jurisdiction has passed a death sentence, isn't it?

However, looking closely, despite the close proximity, it doesn't look like the suspected kidnapper in the roof was hit by the gunshot. He should have crumpled to the floor from the roof and died if that happened. However, his descent, thought fast, showed some clumsy coordination, suggesting that he wasn't killed.

Yet, this poses another challenge: how can our security agencies shoot that closely and not hit the intended target?

They will all be given either the death sentenced or life imprisonment. But most Boko Haram terrorists and bandits are given 10 years to 20 years imprisonment after several adjournment, while some are given amnesty.

People often underestimate that trauma victims of armed robbery, hijack, kidnapping and other vices, go through.

For some, they become hypertensive or mentally unstable, BP, becoming chronic diabetic for missing their drugs.

Criminals need to be ended(kpai) immediately they are caught!
