But why did the police have to shoot at the man in the roof who bore no arms?

I know the society is charged, but extra-judicial killing isn't right either. You don't shoot at an unarmed person except the court of competent jurisdiction has passed a death sentence, isn't it?

However, looking closely, despite the close proximity, it doesn't look like the suspected kidnapper in the roof was hit by the gunshot. He should have crumpled to the floor from the roof and died if that happened. However, his descent, thought fast, showed some clumsy coordination, suggesting that he wasn't killed.

Yet, this poses another challenge: how can our security agencies shoot that closely and not hit the intended target?
Same observation here. Who knows? Maybe na blank shot.

first tell me about my assertion that suggested the nonsense you wrote...not joining in to spread lies about the rescue translates to being wicked and selfish and saying the opposite means y'all care about the victims still in captivity?🤔

I felt so emotional watching this.
Kudos to the galant men of the NPF who executed this rescue operation!
Kudos to the abductees for staying strong!

Nigeria will surely be great again!
When they get those innocent little children out of the kidnappers' den, then we can all give kudos to them. We are all Nigerians, and we all deserve swift response as this from our security personnel whenever situations demand. I will rather call this Selective Rescue Mission

Thank God for them. But this makes me wonder why the same method has not been used to bring back the teachers and children kidnapped over two weeks ago. Or is it a matter of Animal Farm by George Orwell, some animals are more equal than the others.

You are perfectly right. You have a sharp eyes also, I never knew the car was a Lexus....was thinking Corolla......the kidnapping is definitely an arrangee or political motivated or probably someone just wanted to make fast money from the Adelabus through the ex minister........[quote author=Biodun1929 post=139642815]Fighting kidnappers in the forest is harder than fighting the ones in the city.

And yes, the kidnappers in thus case are southerners I knew they couldn't be Fulani when I saw the getaway car they drove away in after kidnapping the woman and her kids. They were driving a Lexus. These kind of kidnappers can be compared Evans.[/

But these people apprehended dont look like bandits in any way! No feature linking them to banditry and the likes. Plus they didnt hide in forests but a bungalow in the cityhuh It was just mere kidnapping

Exactly what I was thinking this morning, the family will relocate abroad immediately, the children will go to school there and probably live till adulthood there and may never come back to Nigeria. After all, the uncke/brother was a minister, so money won't be the problem...

Na poor man wey never see airport B4 go suffer the brunt of everything...

I think why the Police were swift in rescuing the Adelabu Sister and her twin sons is because the kidnappers live within the city/town unlike the other monsters that live in thick forests, and always moving their victims from one forest in one state to another. My thinking undecided

But then, our forests should not be allowed to be a hiding place for criminals, kidnappers and terrorists, Nigeria need to take over our forests by all means.

Well done NPF
This kidnapping was done within the city and if anyone knows Ibadan well it's adequately developed enough and strangers are usually easily noted, IB people can he silent busy bodies . Also I think these are not bandits or BH terrorists these are just bottom of the barrel criminals.

The officer that shot the man in the roof needs to be arrested. That's bad policing.

You realise the officer shot someone that kidnapped children, right?

Apart from arresting the officer, I guess they should also release the kidnappers immediately and hand over the woman and her children back to them.

Also, the ones that kidnapped school kids, took them to the forest and beheaded their teacher, they too should not be shot at when the eventual rescue is attempted.

Bad policing indeed!

What exactly is "mere" kidnapping and how is it better than non mere kidnapping?

These mere kidnappers abducted children too, just in case you need your memory refreshing.
