Many people are still stuck on the data impression of the 3G era. While MTN's data is mad expensive - naim I dey use - them sha fast and dependable dieeeee.

If you're using a 4G device or even 5G, if you have coverage, then you're certainly going to enjoy mad speed, but that also comes with the big straw analogy.

Many stream YouTube video on phone at 1080p which is waste of data when you can actually get good quality at 480p. I personally stream mine at 144p, unless it's tutorials.

Most people still leave Whatsapp default upload/download on HD, and have not disabled Auto Download.

If you're using a windows PC, the werey dey update every market day.

Video streams (Instagram reels, tiktok, Facebook) are not maimai...either.
Still happened to me last on on Windows, niggar wipe 7gb , I was like wetin you dey update....

Most Nigerians have now resorted to Night plans. Data is too expensive in this country.

Re: MTN Speaks On 'Data Theft Allegations' by maxkenny: 4:48pm On Jun 07
Mtn should do well. I personally know all these excuse and explanation from the start while have limit my apps to limited usage. But often times, this doestnt help. I bought night data 500mb from mtn for 75. 5min later data wiped off while loading a browser page on phone. I bought another thinking the first was a mistake and waited for next five minutes. Without doing anything wiped off. I tried that the third time same thing.

Though, this was a confirmation of what i have wasted money on over the years. Sometimes, i bought 5k data hoping to use for a week, i ended up buying 10k. Increasing budget often out of data depletion with all necessary precautions. This excuse not enough from mtn. I do hope they take up reponsibility.

It was not a mistake everyone ia complaining its a deliberate act from mtn

thereโ€™s an atom of truth to this, the sharper the quality of the video the faster it consumes data..
i think mtn should introduce unlimited streaming bundles, but instead of users paying for the gig, we pay for the duration.
i know they will never do this. ones govt tax them heavily, they look for ways to tax and squeeze their users dry to meet up with tax, cost and profits.

i.e 1day unlimited plan, just like how they have 100mb for a day.
subsequently they should introduce it to other bundles like the weekly and monthly bundle.
1week unlimited plan valid for 7 days. itโ€™s as simple as that.

i donโ€™t think south africans face the same difficulty we face here with mtn data bundles.

Who is talking about data? What of airtime recharged that disappeard nko
Re: MTN Speaks On 'Data Theft Allegations' by alezzy13: 5:48pm On Jun 07
Many of these applications automatically preload videos in the background before users even click on them, consuming data silently to ensure a smoother viewing experience.
Tbh, I have noticed this. The buffering of videos has significantly reduced, in fact it's virtually absent.

Ndukwe is saying nonsense.

How do you explain loafing 100gb at 12 pm and by 12.03, you have 5gb left.

You are telling me your network is fast that you used 95gb under 5 minutes?

And people's data needs have increased, what are they doing to meet these needs other than increasing the price of data further?
Re: MTN Speaks On 'Data Theft Allegations' by ambale(m): 5:54pm On Jun 07

Re: MTN Speaks On 'Data Theft Allegations' by frankdbee: 6:12pm On Jun 07
All you wrote is pure truth
All MTN wrote are also true.
I monitor the resolution of the videos I watch and usually set it to 480 or 720 pixels depending on HR quality I want.
I have also stopped all auto downloads.
Then, I buy the 5k (20GB) MTN weekly bundle. It gives me โ‚ฆ250/GB.
On Airtel bundles (also via router), I can get at the rate of โ‚ฆ200/GB. That's for the 100GB for โ‚ฆ20k bundle.

Airtel is notorious for it. Imagine 3gb everyday. Many Nigerians now spend so much on data.

Yes o.. that's the best way.
I do get MTN @200/GB from their Momo App - It's a daily subscription though ๐Ÿ˜…. But atleast you can minimize data on days of lighter browsing

Re: MTN Speaks On 'Data Theft Allegations' by goodman55: 7:43pm On Jun 07
To be honest, MTN steals our data in one way or the other. You paid for data directly from your banks app and after successful from your app, MTN will feel like they didn't received the msg and it wouldn't come until further notice. They have done these to many of us. You noticed that these days you can't speak with our so called networks customer representative anymore. They have locked that system of speaking with their customers representatives which is very poor nature of the kind of useless government we have had till date in Nigeria to protect the rights of Nigerians. SON, Consumer protection council are all not serious with their jobs.

You people have tweak your data to finish fast

Why can't we speak with all the networks customer care agents anymore
Re: MTN Speaks On 'Data Theft Allegations' by Ushernwamama(m): 8:42pm On Jun 07
Why the same is not applicable to Glo lines
Nah only MTN network dey swallow data while we are sleepinghuh
Glo stays on 24/7 still data complete if I no browse nah small update data dey comot which is not even up to 100mb a day without browsing but your data is on for Glo.
But they no born you well to on your data and leave it on on MTN just few hours it will finish
MTN you can do better
Your data is running fast but you still dey do magic
Download video of 300mb and check your data for MTN after you download it finished you will see they collected 800mb for 300mb files
MTN and NCC you guys can do better
