Why Unnecessarily Hike Transport Fare In Lagos On Mondays? by ikorodureporta(op): 3:15am On Jun 08
Lagos state government needs to have a transportation law to address the unnecessary hiking of tfare...

Imagine, from CMS to Ajah was #2,500 and the roads were free
Even those going to Lekki on other days now pay 1,000 with those going to Ajah..

If you want take a boat from this end to Lekki, it's N4,5000

The government is not concerned because it has become their business ventures..

How much are people earning to be spending that much... This is why people sleep at their workplaces these days

Good point, revenue collection should not be made to stiffle the members of the public...
No whalala, we are getting ready for election early enough.

Is there fixed price of vehicle service spare parts in the market?
Re: Why Unnecessarily Hike Transport Fare In Lagos On Mondays? by Gotocourt: 6:41am On Jun 08
Holdup, the traffic congestion is high there by leading to high fuel consumption.

Why the unnecessary hiking of petrol price since May 2023 instead of the promised crash by Tinubu?

How much was petrol three years ago and how much is it now huh
Re: Why Unnecessarily Hike Transport Fare In Lagos On Mondays? by Sensiblerealist(m): 6:42am On Jun 08
All man for himself.
We are so greedy around here although demand and supply factor too.
You know everyone hits the roads on Monday mornings, it gives room for transporters to flex Thier muscles

Tinubu don talk say im aim na to reduce the purchasing power of the average Nigerian in order to widen the tax net. ......... That is exactly what he is doing.

It has nothing to do with vehicle spare parts prices. Lagos state transport fares fluctuate a lot. High when you have crowds and it's time workers go or come back from work.

Does the said spare parts prices fluctuate also.

As in ehn ! The thing is very appalling. I believe Greed is the major factor - Bus drivers, Agbero, Police - ALL GREED !

Most times, it's the crowd(demand) that makes them do this. For example, if primero goes on strike, you will be shocked at the transport fare that day.

You have just described Tinubu’s lootocracy master plan for Lagos State since 1999, which he is now using to ruin the entire country.

It’s the agbalọwọmeri jẹgudujẹra modus operandi for afẹnifẹbis.

How else would it be easy for him to hold people hostage without the Stockholm Syndrome approach to dictatorship huh

The eyesore on Bourdillon Road
2nd January 2025

Beyond his neighbours, there is something about the sight of people hanging around a president’s residence that does not speak well of his leadership capabilities. Maybe no one has nudged him to see it, but the impression that spectacle on Bourdillon Road generates is that Tinubu enjoys the sight of suffering humans and thrives in—and through— their poverty.

If all these years, impoverished people hang around you and you remain comfortable enough to keep them just so they can be handed tokens of your large heart, then it means you have a pro-poverty mindset. Such a frame of mind is oriented toward cultivating poverty rather than stimulating abundance.

That is why he could unproblematically relate the story of his “friend” who went from using five Rolls Royce to a far-less valued car and not consider the import of the nonsense he was saying. That spurious account was an indication that this is a man for whom poverty—of others, not himself—is an ideal.

All these actions are carried out by private businesses. In Lagos, no government bus or train or boat in increases cost because of Mondays. Our people usually prove themselves worse than the government and will do worse if they become government.
Re: Why Unnecessarily Hike Transport Fare In Lagos On Mondays? by SlavaUkraini: 6:49am On Jun 08
Demand and Supply...

The Demand for Transportation is normally high on Mondays...

Most people are resuming for work on Monday morning .... Hence you see large crowds of people at the Bus stops

And to make matters worse

Fewer Vehicles are Operating on Mondays...

Most of the Drivers have not resumed for work ... .. they are still enjoying their weekend rest.

The few Vehicles on the road cannot carry everyone... .

Hi this is what I envisaged when I left Lagos.

In 2019 B4 I left, Sura to Ikeja was 200 naira I used to frequent computer village, then 2021 to 2022 it was around 500, now 2026 should be 1k or over that.

Cost of living in Lagos is expensive especially at odd hours tfare cost can jump to X2.

I am afraid not for myself but my family members in Lagos and the young generations. Where all we make is for maintenance not even for living at all.

Baba, I can tell you for free, Lagos state is the worst state in Nigeria. With all the revenue, they can't sustain a good public private, transportation system around the whole Lagos.
Ambode purchased more than 1000 brt AC busses to sustain this transportation gap. In lagos. This retrogress during this sanwo Olu era. Too bad honestly, they now gave area boys power to be controlling transportation in Lagos. Upon all the huge IGR. A smart regulated transport system can be active by privatizing it. And Lagos monitors ..

Just like the train from CMS to mile 2
Re: Why Unnecessarily Hike Transport Fare In Lagos On Mondays? by Axis313(m): 6:55am On Jun 08
It has become a normal thing in Lagos.
All commuters know that every Monday morning like this, they're more likely to pay about 100% of the normal fare.

Who can do worse than this government in removing subsidy to make petrol expensive while he borrows more than previous governments?

What people can do such huh

You are absolutely correct this unfair treatment as regards transport fare on Monday morning is a big deed that needed urgent attention from the government, on the Badagry axis could be worse, imagine from Magbon Bus stop along Badagry express way to mile2 1,500 to 2000 how can the passengers survive with this hike on transport

Please government need to regulate transport fare so that both the commuters and the bus owners would have the fair sharing of the deed.
Re: Why Unnecessarily Hike Transport Fare In Lagos On Mondays? by INTEGRITYA1(m): 7:06am On Jun 08
The hike of transport fare on Monday in Lagos is simply responding to Economisc principle since the price is not regulated.

The law of demand.

The higher the demand, the higher the price

Una go cry tire. Subsidy is gone. If your candidate comes in and didn't remove subsidy the way the present administration did then he failed from the day one.

About the transport fare. The Lagos Monday Morning Rush is just like the way every festive period rush. People pay high in Lagos because the transporters knows everybody is going somewhere.

How many months after PDP removed telecom subsidies and deregulated the market, before the price of services crashed huh

Why has Tinubu failed to deliver on his promise to crash petrol price three years ago?
Prices were crashing before your white gold Donald Trump attacked Iran. If not for that war that many of you Obidients ig.nor.antly support. We would have gone far in stabilizing our economy.

It's law of demand and supply, there are far more people wanting to commute on Monday mornings after the weekend and on Friday evenings before weekend and transporters take advantage of that consideringthat sector is grossly unregulated......I personally always avoid the Monday morning rush except its absolutely necessary for me to go out......the rush will begin to ease out by 11am or I dont go out at all on Mondays and there are several people who also don't like going out on mondays, they rather make Saturday a full work day.

Cos they want to recover all the losses they recorded at the weekend due to many workers not going to work so turnover being poor
Re: Why Unnecessarily Hike Transport Fare In Lagos On Mondays? by Kalulu44: 7:24am On Jun 08
Let me give a detailed explanation why Mondays are different and the price hike.
I was once a commercial driver, we used to call Monday work "Monday special" drivers don't like to miss Monday's work bcus:
.
Majority of passengers coming from Mainland and working on the island, mostly stayed back on the island from Monday till weekend when they will come back to their various homes. Bcus going from home everyday to work will eat all your money.
So some stay back at the office or get a temporary place on the island to save transportation cost.
.
So Mondays like this, all the workers that came back for the weekend are going back making the various Lagos bus stops filled up with passengers times two of other days.
When drivers sees so much passengers like that, they tend to hike the prices of the t.fare.
In Economics it's called the more the demands the higher the price.
.
From Tuesday, most of the people that went to work on Monday won't come back making the bus stops have fewer passengers and the prices will come back to normal.
