Na so one naked me for theatre in front of those female students when I go do operation. They use me learn work and also see my gbola that day. I really felt violated. Good health is not appreciated enough.

2,To rule out things like prostate cancer
3. To see if the haemmorhoid is external or internal
4. To rule out anal infections
5. To rule out injury to the anus
6 To rule out rectal cancer
7. Etc, etc.

What if the doctor was a young woman?
That time for Urology posting as a houseofficer, I choke finger for yansh of middle aged and older men tire.
At some point, I begin use fork chop eba..

Now, it means nothing to me.
I am even tired of seeing and touching people's intimate areas.

Meanwhile, there are only 2 reasons not to do a rectal examination in a case like yours:
1. Patient does not have anus
2. Doctor does not have a finger.

You don't your rectal to be cut off. Just prepare ewedu only soup and season it with fish or anything you like . 1. The best we got is a computer controlled probe...which still needs to be inserted into the anus.
2. Probably (I no dey joke) in say 100 years time, it may be possible to just wave a hand held machine over a patient and get a complete realistic AI generated model of the patient's anus and other internal organs (Something like we see on Star trek if you have watched the show)...till then, ...
3. And even if we was able to diagnose with just history, at some point, they got to look inside the anus..especially if a proceedure like tying the hemmorhoids (in the OP case) got to be done.
4. At least for prostate examination, a simple ultrasound scan has reduced the need for prostate examination via recto-anal . (But where you don't have that, then in goes the hand).

A lady once narrated her story to me. When she was in the University, she once notice her stool has blood and went to see a doctor. The doctor said he would need to examine if the anus has no mucus. As she heard "examine", she said she quickly said, it has no mucus and the doctor asked her if she is a medical doctor.
The doctor asked her to mount a table to examine her, she mounted with her clothes intact and looked at the doctor, he ordered her down to remove her pant but she only pulled it to kneel level. He had to shout on her to remove the pant completely and stop wasting his time.
She did, he put gloved hand inside her anus and said, it has mucus. Gave her drugs and the thing stopped.
She said she felt terrible as it was her first time removing her pant in front of anyone since she became an adult. The way she narrated it, I almost died of laughter cheesy
