Kindly note that they import crude oil because the specific type of oil extracted domestically does not match the design of most American refineries.

US is the largest producer of cruide oil in the world. 32 us states produces crude oil but 6 states are major producers.
Texas alone has 32 refinaries and produces more cruide oil than Nigeria double.
