My New Apartment Has No Network Signal Indoors And It Is Affecting My Work by babaidan(op): 12:26am On Jun 12
Good evening everyone.

I need advice regarding a house I recently rented through an agent.

I have not stayed in the apartment for up to 3 days, but I have discovered a major problem that is seriously affecting my work and income. There is virtually no mobile network inside the house. MTN, Airtel, and Glo all fail indoors. I have tested multiple phones and networks in every room, including the parlour, kitchen, and bedrooms.
The only way I can get a little signal is by opening the door or going outside. As I write this, my younger brother and friend are outside late at night trying to get network access. I also use several phones and a laptop for my work, so this issue has already affected my productivity and earnings.
The building is relatively new, and this problem was never mentioned by the agent before I paid. Had I known that there was no usable network inside the apartment, I would have seriously reconsidered renting it because my work depends heavily on internet access.

My questions are:

If I report this to the landlord and agent and they refuse to refund my money or provide a solution, what are my options?

Can such a matter be reported to the police, or is it strictly a civil matter?

Does this situation give me any legal grounds to seek a refund or compensation, considering I discovered the issue almost immediately after moving in?

I would appreciate advice from anyone who has experienced something similar or has knowledge of tenancy and property matters in Nigeria.

Thank you

Buy a wifi hotspot modem about N15K - N35k depending on the model and type.
It has battery and can be charged with USB cord, keep it outside in a safe place outside the apartment, but in a very safe/secured place outside.

Then connect to it with your password.

Come back and thank me later

Tell the landlord/agent that your working place transferred you to another state so therefore you can't and wouldn't need to stay there anymore. Plead with them

I experienced this same thing in one of my guys apartment in one of the South Western states. At first I thought maybe it's restricted to just one network provider, but no it affected all networks.

Here is what we did(I couldnt stay there long):

* Kept the router outside the house
Its most likely the thick wall and the pan that is affecting network, since then I dey appreciate abestos roof and ventilated apartments.

GlobalWay:
Ok, buy stralink I think it
Funnily enough Starlink wont solve it totally, the major culprits are thick walls, small ventilated areas and metal roof.

I don experience that thing.
Re: My New Apartment Has No Network Signal Indoors And It Is Affecting My Work by gabbytabby: 12:11pm
It’s not a matter for the landlord or agent find out if there is starlink in the area or speak with someone knowledgeable in this area.

If you want to move out you are unlikely to get more than your balance of rent from when the new tenant takes over.

You never need network, and you don't have a productive work that requires active network as you claim.

You didn't disclose the state, local government and area you currently reside. Well as suggested by someone, broadband e.g starlink is the way to go.

Maybe you can look for a broadband Internet service provider. That's what I use. No wireless network to make call so I just use a broadband Internet service provider for online stuffs.

This was my case when I moved to my new place. Clean house and everything but network is poor indoors. I tried Airtel router but their service was poor. I was at the point of switching to starlink when MTN FibreX got installed in our street. I reached out to them and they set it up for me. I have been enjoying it ever since. Fast and reliable internet 24/7.

The landlord might be using network receptor or jammer to frustrate yahoo boys out of his house.
