Peter Obi is right about one narrow point: citizens must stay, watch, and protect their votes. But beyond that, this sounds too much like the old politics of preparing excuses before the contest has even begun. A serious leader does not keep talking about rigging as if defeat is already written and only fraud can explain it. That is like a student abusing the examiner before entering the exam hall, so that if he fails, the excuse is already waiting at the door.

It's either a poorly thought take or yet another malicious swipe at the church. There's no church i know that holds vigil during elections. The biggest church vigils are on Friday nights, not Saturday nights BTW.
Also, most ward elections results are counted and announced in the day. It's collation at the center that takes time due to physical travel to location. It's not the job of voters to monitor votes, that's why you plan and have agents at every point.

Elections are not rigged in Nigeria and have never been rigged

Somewhere in Nigeria in 2019, a corper.saw it first hand. In his area of primary assignment all the people he interacted with before the election were anti APC. This was a village in the SW.

Come election day, same corper was serving as polling officer. All of the people saying APC was bad voted for ...

Also APC lost 9 million votes between 2019 and 2023. PDP lost two states between 2011 and 2015. And going further back , far Northern states never voted for PDP in 1999,2003 and even 2007.

If rigging was a thing, president's would have been elected with 99 percent of the vote.

Infact APC would have been kicked out in 2023 if Obi and Atiku had come to an understanding beforehand. Instead they split the opposition vote with fatal cosequences. And now we are seeing a repeat

That is a stark difference between those that keep voting someone from their region every election cycle in as much as this same set of leaders have failed in every possible way. I think you have a point but Nigerians are also part of the problem like he said. You watch protest abroad right and see how youths stand their ground? If Nigerian youths take a standard the politician will backdown. They are embolden by the fact that no one will speak up, they would rather run to their pastor or iman to go lead them in prayer than staying back to fight for their future

Atleast, he was tested but he failed. We should be heading towards the position that of you didn't deliver anything from the first day of becoming president, dont expect any second term.
