Sharaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap..

SE even tried for Abiola. He should come now and see if he gets votes at all...

Nonsense

tunapawizzy:
So SE decided to go with Tofa
Why is it now suddenly a problem when SW decides to align with the North.
In the first republic too, Azikwe's NCNC eventually formed an alliance with the North's NPC against Awolowo's AG.
2nd republic, they still formed an alliance with shehu shagari.

what of the 1999 did obasanjo lost?
Lolz, the SW didn't vote for OBJ. In the June 12 spirit, they believed that the nadeco people should be given the mandate so they voted AD. OBJ was not the SW or June 12 candidate. He was the opposition.
Generally also, just like in GEJ'S time, people wanted the sentimental prison to palace, rags to riches story.

The difference between Tofa and Abiola wasn't wide in the South East, compared to the slide that happened in the South West.

So next time, if you don't have something to say, just keep quiet.

What is this one even saying. The op is trying to remind us of the acceptability across divides back then. Southeast 739k, 790k. What's the difference?

Oh no, this reminder every June 12. My dear SE always playing on the losing side of history.
Funny how if SW says 1+1=2, SE will aggressively say NEVER. Smile.
The South East voted neutrally from the result, compared to the South West, so pick a struggle and stop the stu-pid tribalism.

Igbos were here voting others
But one time they are pressing for the position, we start hearing all manner of rubbish. Imagine it was an Igbo man that annulled the election, tribalists and bigots will never cease to tell the story anytime its election time.
Arthur Nzeribe, Emmanuel Iwuanyawu contested in the elections, but they lost woefully at the primary level

Stop ranting and read history very well. Ibo play major roles towards the annulment of the election.

did south east not go with obasanjo, against both olu falae and buhari?
I get your point but Falae was still the candidate of the South West. Falae won all 6 SW states including Obasanjos ogun state. So yes although SE went with a yoruba man, it was still against the position of the south west, it was still much more of an alliance with the North-Gana, Lar, Ciroma, Lamido, Rimi, IBB, and the entire Northern military hegemony. ObJ was just supposed to be a tool they can control and dangle at the SW to compensate for MKO robbery

Let me just answer one of your questions: "How's Babangida doing today?"

He's doing about as well as you'd expect any super rich former head of state with old-age health issues to be doing. He's getting the best medical care for his situation. He lives in his huge mansion in Minna and gets occasional political visitors. You could even say he put Minna on Nigeria's political map. If he were just an average guy, he'd probably be dead.

Basically, he's doing great.
Great response from you

Who killed Dele Giwa?
Who killed Funsho Williams?

The 1993 election was supposed to be our moment of true national unity. Look at those numbers. Abiola did not just win; he built a coalition that bridged the divide between the North Central and the South West. For a brief, intoxicating moment, it felt as though we had finally outgrown the regionalism that keeps us fragmented. But in this country, such optimism is often a dangerous provocation to the powers that prefer the status quo.

Meanwhile, how is Babangida doing today?

The once Almighty ruler who thought the world revolves around his pencil. The Minna archangel!

It makes me remember some great men alike who were silenced rather than good governance see the light.

The shadows that hang over our political history are long and dark. The brutal silencing of Dele Giwa in 1986 and the cold, calculated murder of Funsho Williams in 2006 were not merely isolated crimes. They were messages—sharp, violent reminders of what happens when individuals become too prominent or too capable of shifting the national narrative. We dance around these ghosts, but the truth remains locked behind doors that no one in power wants to open.

It makes me wonder if Abacha really stole that much announced. Maybe underrepresented or overrepresented. Or are other corrupt people hiding their own crimes under the umbrella of the late man who cannot defend himself anymore?

Just the same way more are waiting for others to be late then they blame them for everything!

By the way...

Who killed Dele Giwa?
Who killed Funsho Williams?

that's because south south doesn't have a dominant ethnic group. Its made up of minority tribes and sub ethnic groups.. that is an off shoot of the 2 main ethnic groups in the south, Igbo and Yoruba.
Wrong narrative. So Edo, Efik, Ibibio and Ijaw are off-shoots of which tribes?

Don't let the now silly and failed Wazobia nonsense narrative and removal of history from National curriculum make you display ignorance in public.

The so called tripod that has led to Operation Wetie, Biafra War, coup upon coup and now herdsmen, terrorists, bandits and killings everywhere.

Imperialism and neocolonialism. That's our problem. The people keeping these country the way it is to loot its resources need some puppet to run it.
Just like the colonial era, the then kings did not accept colonial system and rules, they were executed and serve as example to the next leader who might want to object. Same playbook here. Corruption and poverty is not a bug in Nigeria, it's a feature, managed and serviced. Anyone who dare to object face the like of abacha, muritala, yaradua, funsho etc.

Our history was rewritten, alot was taken SMH.

The truth about your vote Tofa ahead of MKO Abiola is not bigotry, it is something you n your people should be ashamed of till Jesus returns.

South Southern Nigeria has always been the only neutral region in this country. We don't have any sentimental attachment when it comes to elections. We vote not because you're our brother but because we see you as the best candidate among the rest.
Same thing apply to SE
Despite the fact that Tofa vice presidential candidate was from Anambra, they still gave Abiola 48% votes
So why the hatred towards igbo from SW

SE produced the vice Presidential candidate for the Tofa ticket
Yet they still shared their votes almost equal like every other regions did
Only Yoruba voted along tribal line.
