Hanty Kemi, focus on your new found country and leave us alone. Stop this obsession about us and continue in the dictates of your white masters

While Kemi Badenoch's comments may sound harsh, many Nigerians will admit that they touch on a painful reality.

Nigeria is blessed with enormous natural resources. We are one of Africa's largest oil producers, yet millions of citizens and businesses still struggle with unreliable electricity. For decades, households have been forced to spend heavily on generators, diesel, petrol, inverters, and alternative power sources just to maintain a basic standard of living.

The irony is difficult to ignore. A country rich in oil and gas should not be experiencing chronic power shortages on this scale.

The issue is not a lack of resources. It is largely a question of policy consistency, infrastructure investment, governance, and execution. Successive governments have announced reforms, projects, and ambitious targets, yet many Nigerians still measure progress by a simple question: "How many hours of electricity did I receive today?"

The consequences extend far beyond inconvenience. Poor power supply increases the cost of doing business, discourages investment, reduces industrial productivity, and makes locally produced goods more expensive. Small businesses spend a significant portion of their income generating their own electricity, costs that are eventually passed on to consumers.

That said, the problem is also more complex than simply calling policies "stupid." Nigeria's power challenges are the result of decades of underinvestment, vandalism, transmission bottlenecks, regulatory failures, corruption, and population growth outpacing infrastructure development.

Still, the frustration behind the criticism is understandable. Many Nigerians look at countries with fewer natural resources but more reliable electricity and wonder why a nation with Nigeria's potential continues to struggle with a problem that directly affects economic growth and quality of life.

Ultimately, citizens do not judge energy policy by speeches, press releases, or statistics. They judge it by whether they can switch on a light, run a business, preserve food, power a factory, or study at night without worrying about the next blackout.

For a country with Nigeria's resources and talent, reliable electricity should not be an aspiration. It should be the norm.
Re: Nigeria Has Oil With No Electricity Due To FG's Stupid Policy - Kemi Bednoch by FutureFocus:
Not just oil , Nigeria also have huge population to sell the electricity to, that’s huge market, but prefer to generate import duty on importation of solar panel , lazy leaders who claimed Nigeria youth are lazy , see them!

A country still flaring gas when the price of cooking gas has skyrocketed, you have abundance of potential and resources to tap from but prefer to be unproductive, everyone just want to collect dues , tax from the struggling class and lavish it on expensive cars and luxury homes

I simply love this babe and her eloquent and passionate distaste to Nigeria leaders.

She never said anything negative about the country but about the kleptomaniac and clueless leaders before and presently.

She's been very regular, consistent with her frequent remarks and approach to the ugliness of Nigeria as a country.

If you listen well enough to her several jabs against Nigeria, it's always about the leadership and not the country.

Every Nigerian that's progressive should get set with your PVC for the next year election.

The present leadership of the country have lost it completely and still going to loose it more if we dare allow them to come back to power. They are insensitive to our pain, greedy and lack all empathy to the suffering clouding every corner of this country. Please, let us kick them out down to prison.....

Being born and grow in Nigeria is not easy if you’re not from rich home..

Funny that people are quick to adjust to suffering , while some even see basic amenities of life as luxury..

Eg, if an average Nigerian sees 12 hours uninterrupted power supply, he becomes anxious and afraid of the consequences of having such long hours of supply..

Some of them wl think that after this supply, they might not see light again for weeks..

This is how Nigerian politicians have damaged the psyche of an average Nigerian who doesn’t know that have 24 hours power supply is his right..
Nice and good valid point

That's if the 24 hours is not on band issues

But agreed with you they have Brian wash us

But still I hate this bad nut of a girl
She doesn't contribute to development of England benefits from it yet close the door for others to benefit

lolz
on Wednesday they gave us straight 14hours light.
i was just telling myself, we may not see light for the next 3 to 4days, and true to it, thursday, yesterday and even till now they have only brought the light for 10mins again and that was this morning.
honestly Nigeria is a preparation ground on living in Hell.
if any Nigeria find himself or herself in Hell, it wont be strange, it will just be an advanced extension of Nigeria,

Funny leadership.
You promise to provide constant electricity.
Dared the citizens to kick you out if you could not deliver.
After elections your top priority is not electricity, but a trillion naira coastal road. Saying it will develop the country.

Ask me between electricity and a road bordering the Atlantic ocean, which will develop a nation of 200 million people....and we call that cerebral leadership.

Oh! Upgrading and expanding the grid is a stupid policy.

Tell me what he could have done differently. You seem to be very brilliant.
u people are shameless

before tinubu, my area use to experience 15hours minimum light a day.
now we dont even see 5hours and we pay far more compared to we were paying when buhari was in power.
so what upgrade is he doing for 3yrs now that instead of us seeing more light, we now see 1/3 of what we had before him.

In as much as she is right, things are turning around for good under the administration of His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).

Our grid and generation did not catch up with our energy demands and that was as a result of Kemi stated, but we now on course.

Once the ongoing upgrade and expansion of the grid is completed, generation will be fast paced.

The most important criteria is continuity of current government policies and we lucky to have more more that 150 million Nigerians in support of His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).
Wait o, no vex. Things r getting better where? In Nigeria or the U.K?

You're absolutely right, Kemi. Tinubu has been a huge disappointment. How do you gain power and then suddenly seem not to know what to do with it?

The system on the ground cannot work, and Tinubu knows it. Why is it so difficult for him to ignore the political consequences and put a workable system in place? Certain ethno-religious interests are benefiting from the current rotten system and prefer to maintain the status quo. What annoys me most about Tinubu is that, for political reasons, he appears to be supporting their agenda.
Nigeria can never truly prosper if we continue down this path.

Tinubuuuuuu, restructure Nigeria! Let those who want to live like Afghans and Somalis do so, while those of us who desire progress and development are allowed to pursue them as well.

Religion, ethnicity and tribe are taking Nigeria backward.

The British caused the foundational problems we're facing today.
Oga, if you were.running a provisions store and only 30% of your customers paid full price for the things they buy from you while the rest refuse to pay or underpay you, will you have a functioning business after some time?

You are blaming white people for a problem that can be simply solved

It's not because of the FG stupid policy, but the amount of stupeeeed citizens who don't know their rights.

FG have seen all the loop holes and they're using it against the citizens, while the citizens fights themselves.

I do not blame the government for the maladies going on, I blame the citizens.

Like I always said, FG knows that as long as they can keep many Nigerians poor and uneducated, they're good to go with their looking and policies.
Oga, you can type on the Internet your righteous and justified anger because government was not setting the prices that MTN, Glo and Airtel were charging right from day one of their operations

You have no light because Nigerians do not want to pay cost reflective tarrifs for power.

Prof Nnaji of Aba power said as much last year. Nobody listened
