Many kids have anxiety getting into teenage years, insecurities. Especially girls. Is she not beautiful enough, is she not getting the attention her friends are getting, is she liking a boy and the boy not liking her back

I am probably the only uncle from her mother side and my french is terrible. The other uncle who lives with them in France from her father side is keeping malice with the father.

Pls i need your advice on a serious matter.

I am not the type who usually bring his private/family matter online for discussion but this has become imperative of me to do so as i do not know who might be of help. I also know there's no single way to train a child but with varying opinions here i will know which one to advice my sister.

My sister just told me that the anti-social in her daughter's school called to inform her that my niece is depressed and being suicidal. She's 12yrs going to be 13th in October. She doesn't sleep at night,keeps long in the toilet and often moody.

And guess her reason for being depressed and attempting suicide? That her parent don't love her as much as they love the other kids because they ask her to do house chores.

The said house chore is just to wash plate on Wednesday. She also complained that her junior brother use to disturb her. She also told the anti-social that her dad usually tell her to live by his rule or go somewhere.

Now my sister is contemplating on taking her to a burden school.

My advice is for the parents to take this seriously and create an environment where the girl can speak freely. She should feel safe to share her feelings without fear of being judged or scolded. Even if her reasons don’t seem reasonable they are reasonable to her. The priority should be understanding what is really troubling her and finding a solution.

A father will always be a father, but in this case, he should avoid harsh words for now, they might make her feel unloved. Right now, she needs love and open communication. If possible, a professional therapist might help more than sending her to boarding school, it may compound the situation.
I know many fathers may not agree with this, but it reflects the reality of the times we live in. Today's children are exposed to far more influences and information than previous generations, and adolescence age is a particularly sensitive and vulnerable stage of life, so a bit of caution is needed.
