Is Football The Devil's Game, A Sin That Takes All Its Fans To Hell?

Several preachers have been voicing their concerns about football.

They say football is a god, a sin, the devil's or antichrist's game, so all
footballers and fans alike are going to hell unless they repent of it.

Therefore should all footballers and football fans be really scared, and are they truly bound for hell unless they repent and quit playing or following football?

What readily comes to mind whenever I heard such things, is the preaching I first heard about many years ago, that the television set was evil and of the devil, which was being preached by some pastors in the 80s, to the point some of their church members were destroying their TV sets and even throwing them into the river.

Only to realize decades later that it was a lost opportunity, as the same television could be used to preach the Gospel to many souls and draw them to Jesus, that the same preachers themselves began to admit the error in such teachings/doctrines and to correct them, and even began to use the same TV set they once condemned to be evil and of the devil to preach the Gospel.

Which is also good, because it better late than never to realize one's erroneous teachings that is misleading many, and to correct them.

However imagine by then, how many lost souls that would have had the opportunity to hear the Gospel via such preachers through the TV set, but had been deprived of that opportunity because of such ignorant teaching and doctrinal error.

That's why it's very important not to allow our messages and teachings to be led by personal sentiments or emotions, but by the Spirit and Word of God, because the difference could be measured in the eternal life and death of souls.

The truth is just as the TV sets, football is not necessarily evil and of the devil, but a tool or medium that can be used either for evil and to the glory of the devil, or for good and to the glory of God.

Therefore just as it is with money, music, movies, electronic media, internet or social media, it is up to us humans to determine how such tools are used, either for good or for evil, to glorify God or the devil.

No doubt the world systems and industries are mostly controlled by the devil and his agents.

However as we've seen in the movie, music and sport industries, including the footballing sector, it is possible for individuals or players involved to take a stand against any evil or devilish agenda being imposed on them by the authorities or any powers that be, just as those footballers and team captains in the premier league who refused to be used by the organization to promote the LGBTQ+ campaign, that made them to have no choice but to put a halt to it.

Likewise the football players who are using football as a platform, to showcase their faith in Jesus and to preach His Gospel, which is said to have inspired many of the younger generation to draw closer to Christ.

So just imagine that they decided to hands off football thinking it was evil and of the devil, what might have been to all those souls.

God bless.

It's obvious that football could pose a huge distraction or even become an idol or master, and begin take the place of God in people's lives, if they're not careful.

Which is exactly the reason behind my concerns that made me plan to leave it completely, before God revealed to me that He had many (souls) in football.

However just Incase there was any doubts about where my loyalty lies as an arsenal fans, not long after Jeremy Doku had broken our hearts in the Caraboa cup final, I saw a post where he spoke about there being no second chances once Jesus Returns, and I instantly liked the post.

I didn't even realize what I had just done, it was later on that the reality of what I had just done struck me, that I was amazed, because I didn't even remember that he was the player of a fierce rival and the prime architect of that heartbreaking loss we just suffered, as the Gospel of Jesus just seemed to supercede everything else and even the club I supported became secondary to me.

I can also recall that the first and only arsenal jersey I bought and ever owned, i customized it with JESUS and the number 1, and I used to wear it then to watch premier league matches outside at sport bars, and I'm sure those who saw it would have been shocked because I have never seen someone do that before.

I can remember one particular rival fan and a Muslim, calling the name, "Jesus number 1" as written on the back of my jersey.

So despite being an arsenal fan, it's always been Jesus number 1 for me, and I have been using football as a tool to preach His Gospel ever since up til this very post.

God bless.

Arrant nonsense. If Football is a sin, how come Baseball isn't, as well as Chess, Scrabble, Ludo and the likes?

Most you religious folks attach the concept of sin, to everything? Especially things that makes people happy?

God created us in His image and likeness, and placed within us different gifts, skills and talents.
For some, that gift is the masterful touch of a ball, the dexterity, vision and brilliance that can make grown men pause, shout, smile or even cry when witnessing the genius of the maestros on the pitch.
Football is more than a game. It is art, discipline, creativity and an expression of the endowment placed in man by God .
But at the end of it all, every gift comes from above, and all glory belongs to God. Jesus loves football.

Football encourages betting/gambling, men exposing parts of their body they shouldn't expose, it promotes free mixing of opposite sexes, it wastes time, it encourages superstitions, can be used to promote alcohol, betting or other ideology.

Read the post finish before you over step.

You too dey rush.

For real, many churches before now considers it a sin, not just football, but most sports because of the easy tendency to lie, plating of the hair, tattooing the skin, and other factors that may go against some churches doctrines, like deeperlife and other similar churches...

But the OP is invalidating it, not supporting it.

There were lots of confusion, indoctrination and misdoctrination without any biblical backing...

But many of them are now easing up on their mortal doctrines created from their own paranoia.

Bible is actually the devil’s box taking you to an imaginary hell fire .

You have Bible that can’t even rescue kidnapped children.

This must be a mental illness for a god who has human traits like anger and cheating (like he cheated for David in your holy book). Hell ke? Don't you guys do research about the etymology of all these things? Why did Jehovah have a wife, that is to say, the feminine part of him in the earlier texts? What was the true meaning of hell? Why was it re-edited to the hell it is today? He sacrificed his only son to whom exactly? In the world, you sacrifice to things that are in some ways more powerful than you. Read about Yahweh in the Old Testament and take your mind to the nature spirit worship in your village, are there any differences in their character? Nothing in this world that has human traits can be supreme, Yahweh was just a nature spirit that was venerated by the Jews. The universe is too vast and complex for it to be ruled by beings as such. Limiting football to hell must be a deadly mental illness. Sheol was never the hell it is today. And there's no supreme anywhere, even African traditional religion that has supreme bullshit, go back 300 years ago, and you'll find out there was nothing like supreme in traditions that has it today.

Football is evil but players like Kaka will always at every goal scored acknowledge God and use the medium to preach. Africans are too selfish to admit they don't have the brain to create or generate ideas so easily they will condemn something good. Excessive religious madness.

If TV or football was evil, then aircrafts and mobile phones and even furnitures should be evil too. Nonsense Pastors teaching wetin God no send them.

This is one of the dangers of a religion that makes sin its primary focus. It can turn everything into sin, rob you of the ability to live a normal life, and keep you in constant bondage, making you feel guilty about almost everything. Free yourself from that mindset and stop seeing Satan in everything.

Actually the sin thing is a tool that does the reverse of letting people have or experience spiritual freedom, if you factor in the fact that no matter how much blood of Jesus you cover yourself with, drink or confess, you cannot be free of it.

Its worse if you add the reality that their 'holy ghost' is said to not forgive deliberate sins.

Currently we live in a world where no one can say they do not know of a sin...as in all sin are known and you cannot sin a sin you do not know of as things stand...
