CCTV shows the moment an Indian Air Force An-32 transport aircraft crashed while attempting to land at the Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam on Saturday.

Five personnel lost their lives in the accident. In a statement, the Air Force said it “deeply regrets the loss of five personnel” in the accident and assured support to the bereaved families during the difficult period.

I thought rescue crew should have been there within seconds of the crash to see if lives could be saved ...well RIP to the dead

Had it not been that it has crashed, i won't be surprised that the Nigeria Air force were making plans to acquire such outdated aircraft, just like they have been doing in the last 2 decades.

Let's break this down. The aircraft is a military transport plane. It landed successfully but somehow veered off the runway and became engulfed in fire. Still survivors should have come out of that but then the possibility exists that whatever cargo that plane was carrying, came crashing down on everyone in the plane when it nosedived. They got crushed to death instead of burning to death.

It is also remarkable to see that no fire fighters came to the scene right away. I guess incompetence is not limited to Nigeria alone.

They arrived within a minute, not bad considering that the plane was not in an emergency ahead of landing. It had landed successfully then veered off.

Mind you , unless the footage has been shortened, they got there less than 2 minutes.
Generally accepted standards play it at 11 to 13 minutes of response, much lesser in this situation as per same zone

The landing appeared smooth and normal, but then the nose wheel seemed to lose steering authority, causing the mammoth plane to veer off into the grass. Damn that fire was so quick to engulf the plane. The crew stood no chance.

Takeoff and landing are the most dangerous parts of air travel. I’m waiting for an official report of what happened. That looked like a landing which had a 93% chance of successful completion.
