Nigeria’s insecurity crisis is too serious to be turned into a political megaphone. The killings, kidnappings, and attacks are real, painful, and unacceptable. Reuters reported fresh abductions in Zamfara this month, while protests in Lagos and Abuja on June 12 carried chants of “Tinubu must go” over the worsening situation. Citizens have every right to be angry. But anger must not be turned into opportunistic theatre. That is where some opposition actors and influencers like VDM get it wrong. Instead of separating legitimate protest from reckless agitation, they collapse everything into one slogan: remove the president. That is cheap politics. A serious opposition should ask hard questions, demand accountability, and present a superior security plan. What it should not do is use the blood of victims as campaign merchandise. The man who carries a corpse on his head should not also beat drums in the market with it. This does not mean government has solved the crisis. It has not. But it is false to act as if nothing is being done. Reuters reported that in March 2026 Nigerian troops, backed by air strikes, repelled a major assault on a military base in Mallam Fatori and killed at least 80 insurgents. Reuters also reported security forces launched manhunts after large abductions in Zamfara, while AP reported the army freed 360 kidnapped people from Boko Haram captivity. Those are not final victory, but they are real battlefield gains. Nigeria needs pressure, yes. But it needs seriousness more. Insecurity should produce strategy, not slogans; resolve, not clout-chasing. A nation in pain deserves better than politicians and influencers trying to turn terror into applause. |

I love your write up with utmost sincerity and so proud of what you were able to churn out! The problem of our great country is the “ELITES” I mean the brain boxes who can address, criticize and proffer feasible demands. The elites has left it in that hands of illiterates and unexposed lots like VDM and his conspirators. When reasoning is demanded, you won’t find them and only good with noise and propaganda! Sit them down and ask them what should be done differently and you will be amused about how dull these creatures are. |

CharlesCNG aka SmartEnergyng is the newest account these guys have unleashed on NL to deceive and defraud Nigerians One wonders why they are so perturbed after dividing the opposition to its weakest that they still have to unleash propaganda handles on unsuspecting folks Truly, they must know something we all don't know about how they "won" in 2023 to be this jittery after capturing almost all states and other critical govt institutions Funny enough his first thread in this hatchet job was an attack on Obi The second thread was to hand all credit over to Tinubu for the deceitfully packaged economic wonders This present one is to absolve him of blame for the glaring insecurity under his watch and pass the blame over to the opposition for the inefficiency of the ruling govt Another zone bee account above simply blames the "Elites" for not coming up with solutions for the "master strategist" and "demigod of politics" to use in solving the insecurity issues that have grown in leaps and bounds on his watch You see how confused these folks are? |

Kukutente23:Interesting. I raise questions about Peter Obi's record, and instead of answering them, I am suddenly a propagandist, a government agent, a "Zone Bee," and part of some grand conspiracy. Not one word on the issues. Not one answer on Anambra's infrastructure record. Not one answer on IGR growth under Obiano and Soludo. Not one answer on the endless coalition hopping. Not one answer on the contradiction between "Go and Verify" and the hostility shown to those who actually verify. Just labels. This strategy will fail. Peter Obi wants to be President of Nigeria, not Pope of the Obidient Church. He is not immune from scrutiny, and no amount of emotional blackmail, name-calling, conspiracy theories, or character assassination will change that. I will continue to subject Peter Obi to the same level of scrutiny that obidients apply to Tinubu, Atiku, Buhari and every other politician. If Tinubu's economic policies can be questioned, Peter Obi's Anambra record can be questioned. If Buhari's security record can be questioned, Peter Obi's promises can be questioned. If Atiku's alliances can be questioned, Peter Obi's endless search for political accommodation can be questioned. Democracy demands arguments, not excommunication. So spare me the labels. Address the issues. Answer the questions. Defend the record. Or admit that mythology is easier to defend than facts. Because I am not interested in worship. I am interested in verification. And contrary to what some people think, "Go and Verify" was an invitation, not a commandment to suspend critical thinking. |

You mean same strategy APC used to crucify Jonathan? Or it turned bad because your daddy is at the receiving end now? Tinubu himself called out good luck Jonathan to resign. So what's the big issue with calling him out for even a more colossal failure. |

HacheNoire:Thank you very much for your kind words and generous compliment. I sincerely appreciate them. What I find truly remarkable, however, is that despite the volume of reactions these pieces generate, none of these obidients have actually attempted to engage the issues raised. That, unfortunately, appears to be their now familiar modus operandi. Raise questions about Peter Obi's record, and they answer with Tinubu. Present statistics, and they respond with insults. Ask what their candidate would do differently, and they change the subject. Point to contradictions, and they cry tribalism. Challenge assumptions, and they invoke conspiracy theories, curses and imaginary payments. In short, arguments are answered with emotions, and scrutiny is treated as heresy. I have no problem with disagreement. Indeed, democracy thrives on disagreement. But disagreement requires counterarguments, evidence and reasoning. What has fascinated me most is not the abuse, but the inability of many of them to take on even one issue directly. Not one. Perhaps because myths are easier to defend than facts. And perhaps because emotional investment often makes objective examination difficult. Questions must be answered, not avoided. |
