Nigerian Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, acknowledged citizens' constitutional right to protest, but urged caution, warning that demonstrations could be hijacked by violent elements resulting in unintended injuries or loss of lives. He emphasized the need for vigilance and public collaboration to maintain stability.Key highlights of the Minister's message include:Rights vs. Risks: While no one is stopping anyone from demonstrating, he warned that criminal groups could exploit the gatherings to cause unrest and destruction.Appeal for Vigilance: He called on organizers and participants to be mindful of who might infiltrate their ranks to prevent peaceful assemblies from spiraling out of control.

Focus on the insecurities not the protesters

When you are out of power, you support protests and pretend that you will fix the nation if given the opportunity. The people vote you into power and you turn around to do worse things than the previous government.

What else can citizens do if not protests? Citizens cannot carry guns to fight, but they will not keep silent in the face of hunger, misery and intense poverty.

Nigerians have not had peace of mind and rest since APC came to power in 2014. It has been one stress or the other, with fake promises of fixing the same economy that they used corrupt practices to ruin.

Every decent country ensures safety and food security for the citizens first. In Nigeria, the people are told to fast and pray, by the same people who used protests as one of the weapons to get to power. So while they urge citizens to fast and pray, they are busy moving their own children abroad and living very large.

Was it not the same insecurity that they used as a political tool in 2014 to push GEJ out of power? Why are they afraid of getting the same treatment, if in all honesty they are fixing the country?

Ignore them. If you had done your work, there won't be any protest regarding insecurity

He's not the first....

Our Minister of defence is right to issue the warning. Nigeria is full of of illiterates and malcontents. Not their fault because leaders have failed them for decades.

Nonetheless, we have to be careful to not allow opportunists cashtivists like VDM snowball Nigeria into Rwanda-style internecine strife.

We saw how, during the August protest last year, political opportunists looking to discredit the Tinubu Government, to boost their political profile, were paying children in the North 500 Naira to loot, riot and burn. When they then wanted to arraign those children in juvenile Court, everyone was shouting Tinubu.

The way Nigeria is going, where commonsense is not prevailing, we will land in big trouble that will touch all of us.

Apt warning. People who could be mobilised with #2000 to cause chaos in the court would disrupt a peaceful protest with a promise of malt. The organisers should be vigilant.

But Gen Musa, your appointment came with so much hope. Now it is almost as if you are also clueless or handicapped.
What's happening?

Musa is competent and sincere. It is the structure of Nigeria that needs massive change.

For example, why do Nigerians not appear intelligent enough to challenge the North, leaders and followers , to fish out these terrorists and bandits amongst them, since they are not Ghosts, if they don't condone their murderous activities?

This man reeks of incompetence. This same man as Chief of Defense Staff urged Nigerians to learn karate as a form of self defense against terrorists armed with automatic rifles and anti-aircraft guns... as minister of defense he was giving silly excuses how the US/Iran war has affected their ability to purchase arms. There are lots of countries like Turkey, Pakistan, Sweden, South Africa, China, Denmark, Hungary, Poland etc that are well known military hardware manufacturers of repute and can easily supply Nigerian military with the required assets for prosecuting the war against terrorism.
Nigeria has the required military might to end this insecurity in the country but what Nigeria lacks is the political will and leadership to end the war for all manner of selfish reasons.
The man who manipulated himself into position as Commander - in- Chief of the armed forces has been more concerned with his re-election right from his first year in office and totally seems lost and has no clue what to do about the insecurity.

Warning that was not issued to bandits and kidnappers?
Let's face the truth, the only thing that moves this government is protest.

Right now, it's the only power we have and not election.

I dont believe obi or atiku will do anything different because one man does not constitute the presidency.
