A few days ago i typed a tweet that stated that the igbos had contributed commercially to the incredible growth in Lagos, alongside other tribes. A bunch of derogatory tweets responded in attack asking we should vacate Lagos and return to our erosion filled land. i was upset and responded rather harshly in these words “ we bought all your land and will resell to you” . i have always been baffled at how hostile certain factions have been towards igbos when it comes to developing areas outside the south east. i apologize if you found my comments brash.it wasn’t intended to tarnish Lagos, a state that has accommodated us all and supported our art , our business and our growth. for many years. We live here and it’s our home and we will always treat it as such. Thank You and stay Blessed!

Is it that he was not thinking correctly before making that divisive comment?
There are certain behaviors I don’t expect from his likes. He shouldn’t have descended into the same level with the usual suspects.

There are places in high brow areas in Lagos owned by Northern big boys but they don't make noise about it

Any Nigerian having to apologize for living in Lagos is as absurd as an Englishman apologizing for living in London, a South African for living in Johannesburg, an American for living in New York, a Brazilian for living in Rio de Janeiro, etc. Lagos is the economic capital of Nigeria and also its melting pot and nerve centre.

Of course this takes nothing away from the historical ethnic Yoruba identity but in my view no one should reduce Lagos to a tribal enclave. It is a city of international standing with a rich mix of culture and commerce.

How some people could be like this baffles me.
Why would you even say this, EVEN if it is true? Don't you understand diplomacy, modesty, humility and not flaunting it, even if you have it?
What about respect for your neighbours and host community? Why would you tell the northerners that you own or have bought all the lands in Kano, Kaduna etc. EVEN if it is true? Why would someone tell Igbo people that they have bought all the lands in Enugu, Aba etc EVEN if it is true?
RESPECT for Host Community is key to enduring peaceful coexistence!

Lagos is not your home, man—and it never will be. When we say some of you don't think before you speak, it's not meant as an insult; it's simply an observation.

My ancestral land cannot be your home unless you can show me your family compound—your agbo'le. I honestly don't understand this relentless obsession with Lagos. Be proud of where you come from, man, and celebrate your own roots instead of trying to lay claim to someone else's heritage.
