Good for him. But the problem here, he dare not make obvious mistake that would caused them next stage. If that happens, Japanese might not take it likely with him.
Might not take it LIGHTLY with him and not take it LIKELY with him

You got it wrong. Look at his face very well. He resembles Japanese, just the skin colour.

Are they more racists than your countrymen that are chronic tribalists? That is one problem with many Nigerians. They call others racists, but they are tribalists, even to their fellow countrymen.

Actually, his dad is half white, quarter black, and quarter native American.

Even, his mum is half Thai, half Chinese.

He could pass as black or Thai.

Keanu Reeves is half white, quarter Chinese, and quarter native Hawaiian.
Earl Woods looks more black to me than half white.

He is a hafu in the Japanese language. That's Japanese for mixed race. They are not so well tolerated in Japan.

FactsZoneAfrica:
Modern football is filled with stories of players whose backgrounds span multiple continents and cultures. Few embody that reality better than Zion Suzuki, the talented goalkeeper who has emerged as one of Japan's brightest football stars.

Born in the United States to a Ghanaian father and a Japanese mother, Suzuki's journey is a remarkable story of identity, perseverance, and football excellence. While many fans know him today as Japan's first-choice goalkeeper and one of the most promising young shot-stoppers in world football, his path to the top has been shaped by a unique multicultural upbringing.

From his early years in Japan to his development at Urawa Red Diamonds, a loan spell in Belgium, and his rise in Italy's Serie A with Parma, Suzuki has steadily built a reputation as one of the most exciting goalkeepers of his generation.

With several European clubs reportedly monitoring his progress and past links to Manchester United, many believe that an even bigger move could be on the horizon.

Early Life and Family Background

Zion Suzuki was born on August 21, 2002, in Little Rock, Arkansas, United States.

His father is Ghanaian, while his mother is Japanese. Although he was born in America, his family relocated to Japan when he was still very young, meaning that most of his childhood and formative years were spent in Japan.

Growing up in Japan, Suzuki was immersed in Japanese culture, education, and society. This upbringing would ultimately shape his identity and football career.

One aspect of his background that often attracts curiosity is his surname. Despite having a Ghanaian father, he carries his mother's Japanese surname, Suzuki.

The decision was likely influenced by practical considerations connected to the family's permanent move to Japan. In Japanese society, family registration systems, school enrollment processes, legal documentation, and citizenship matters generally function more smoothly when individuals use Japanese surnames.

For a family planning to establish permanent roots in Japan, using a Japanese surname would naturally simplify integration into daily life.

Today, Suzuki holds Japanese citizenship and proudly represents Japan at international level while also embracing his African heritage through his Ghanaian roots.

Discovering Football

Like many young boys in Japan, Suzuki developed a passion for football at an early age.

Standing out because of his impressive height, athleticism, and reflexes, he soon gravitated toward the goalkeeper position.

His natural talent became evident quickly, attracting the attention of scouts from one of Japan's most respected football institutions, Urawa Red Diamonds.

Joining the club's youth academy would prove to be one of the most important steps in his career.

Development at Urawa Red Diamonds

The youth academy of Urawa Red Diamonds has produced numerous talented players, and Suzuki emerged as one of its most exciting prospects.

The academy environment allowed him to refine his technical abilities while developing the discipline and tactical understanding required at the professional level.

As he progressed through the youth ranks, coaches were impressed by several qualities:

Excellent shot-stopping ability
Strong aerial presence
Quick reflexes
Confidence with the ball at his feet
Leadership qualities despite his young age

His rapid development eventually earned him promotion to the senior team.

For many observers, it became clear that Japan had discovered a special goalkeeping talent capable of succeeding at the highest levels of world football.

In reality, my countrymen can't see someone from another tribe in a bus and refuse to sit in the same row, or try to perceive if the person is smelling, or try to see if the person is monkey or animal. Can you say the same of Japan people? It's not everything you should be attacking Nigeria online. That is one thing I like about South Africans.
Re: Zion Suzuki: The Black Goalkeeper Representing Japan by BlackViper: 12:26am On Jun 16
Seems your self esteem has always been measured by how others accept you. The whole "black and proud" nonsense has always been a shallow joke. The Japanese who are ACTUALLY proud of their culture, wouldn't even give a damn if you don't like or accept them.

Only skin color can't make you look like black or African man.

The Japanese gene is still present.

Observe his facial features and structure, that's Asian look.
what happens when he pipes an Japanese girl?
Re: Zion Suzuki: The Black Goalkeeper Representing Japan by Carot: 2:24am On Jun 16
hatchy:
No, you're wrong. The mother's gene is dominant here, just the skin is where the father's gene played some role.

Take a look at his face, his eye lid, mouth, etc.

Proud of him African/Asiatic combo.
what the diff btw Japanese and chinese?

Do you even know what 'dominance' means?
Re: Zion Suzuki: The Black Goalkeeper Representing Japan by Ishilove: 3:25am On Jun 16
Discountsempai:
Depends...players of black descent have represented Japan before in the past. eg Alessandro Santos at the 2006 world cup.

Also at junior level, black players have represented Japan. The Japan U23 team to the last olympics had two black players.,,Joel Chima Fujita(Also the captain of the team) and Leo Kokubo who are both half-Nigerians.

Suzuki first played for Japan at U17 world cup in 2019. (Been following him since then).
Igbo men! They are like MTN. Planting seeds anywhere they go 🤣

How come the mod is not projecting world cup games on front page?
We feature matches of interest even though it's not been easy considering the time difference. Iraq and new Zealand are currently playing right now. Its not a match Nairalanders would be keenly willing to watch and discuss so we can't feature such on frontpage. That's why a world cup thread was created.

I've seen biracial skin colour in one guy that we grew up together, he's older than me though, his father was a Chinese and his mom was a Nigerian, This guy's mother might be a weaker type..
