NSEstudent:I don't think so. The gen usually powers my submersible + deep freezer which has a greater power draw overall without issues. With charging the inverter, somehow even at low wattage something was obviously wrong. Worked for a few days and then started failing. So it's not really a case of overloading. I don learn my lessons sha. Never again. |

Heemcelph:There is a reason why many don't go for these type of all-in-one systems is that in the event of failure, getting a repair is usually hard. But if you have a good after sales guarantee go for it. Luxpower is a brand I've heard of, though never personally used. The spec you going for looks good, at least on paper. You decide what you want and either go for it or not. You are the boss |

Good afternoon everyone, please I need solution to this my little problem..I have 6 450w solar panels on my roof which consist of 3 halfcut and 3 straight panels. The highest I have got during the peak hours is 1.5kw buh I think I should be getting more.. I guess the straight cut solar panels are the ones restricting the performance of the halfcut ones buh I may be wrong?.... Please, gurus in the house kindly help out? |

mctfopt:Thanks for your input. They actually do have an office/service centre in my location. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 1:56pm On Jun 16 |
Bankyshinani:How are the solar panels connected e.g All in series, All in parallel, Mixture of Series and parallel ? We need know that and how many e.g 2 in series, 3 in parfallel, etc Also we need know if you using hybrid inverter or external charge controller to charge your batteries. We also need know your location and how much sunLight you get daily. We also need know the kind of battery you use and how many volts and amps |

There's a Longi Solar panel dealer at Arena Oshodi. Please is Longi solar panel better than Jinko? I noticed that the experts in this forum edge towards Jinko. Please advise |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Bankyshinani(m): 3:02pm On Jun 16 |
bassdow:Thanks boss.... All 6 panels are connected in series... I am using sako 4.2kva inverter with max voc of 500v and mppt power of 5,000w I am in ota, ogun state and my battery is a 24v 4.55kwh lithium battery from Valtech Thanks |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 3:14pm On Jun 16 |
waleayeni1:They are both good solar panel brands. What mayters is if you getting quality one. Most people often recommend what they're used to |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 3:18pm On Jun 16 |
Bankyshinani:Wonderful. So we be neigbour. Firstly, Ogun state especially that Sango / Ota / Atan / Owode / Idiroko axis barely have long hours of sun light. Secondly it's wrong to combine halfCut + non halfCut solar panels the way you did. There would always be performance issues when you combine panels of different specs especially if the gap is wide BUT there are ways that are better and ways that are worse. Either way, there must be looses. We never even know the nature of the panels to begin with. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Bankyshinani(m): 3:28pm On Jun 16 |
bassdow:The panels are still good cos I sometimes climb ladder to inspect them and beside the pv voltage display on the inverter is around 265-269V max. With this,I think all panels are intact |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 3:48pm On Jun 16*. Modified: 4:07pm On Jun 16 |
Bankyshinani:not saying they ain't good. Just that the combination ain't. it's like they say. The strength of a team is based on the weakest of the team. You don't mix and if you must, be sure you know what you doing even before making the purchase. I say all these assuming the solar panels are good grade. ANother thing is, most charge controllers / hybrid inverters only displays amount of power they drawing, not what the solar panel is generating. in other words, you just might be the one bothering yourSelf THOUGH there's no way there ain't losses with the way you said you connected and mixed those solar panels |

bassdow:Thanks bro |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by NSEstudent: 4:21pm On Jun 16 |
Unfaized:So essentially, either the inverter is not efficient/effective in drawing power from the gen or the gen has some faulty components. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aus_cBz4lUQ Is it the equipment, the installer or your village people? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Penuelseun(m): 5:12pm On Jun 16 |
Bankyshinani:looks like you are restricted by the default charge current of the inverter, try increasing the charge current and see if there will be an increase in power generation, also try putting on some power hungry appliances during peak sun hours to see if there is improvement in power generation |

Penuelseun:My charging current is set at 100amp and I will try putting on more power hungry devices because the last time I noticed,I was using an air fryer(1,500w) and the inverter is pulling 1,500w from the pv |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 6:01am On Jun 17 |
Bankyshinani:If your battery is full why do you want it to pull more power from the PV? |

Guys my building no dey earthed not even the popular thunder protector. The installer but breaker/surge protector btw inverter and pv, then Ac output he put breaker . I don't use grid at all and don't intend charging with Generator. Nigga doesn't even know how to communicate the battery with the inverter. After paying the guy I just see the fee as wasted,if u mistakingly touch screw on the inverter e go shock u small. The only thing I think I paid that guy for is just climbing up and connecting my 3 420w Pv in series. Ogas them is there any means I can protect my system against thunder? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Bankyshinani(m): 8:07am On Jun 17 |
mctfopt:I know all that... what i am talking about is when my battery is like 40-50% and I have never seen the charging current go to 50amp before it is mostly at 40 something amps |
