Gotocourt:
Jos has been peaceful, IBB created Jos North LGA which the Hausa/Fulani ethnic wanted ruling with force. 1994, 2001, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011-2017 crisis was spearheaded by them. IBB was taken to Appeal court in 2009 on sentiments for creating that.
E be like say the mkporu mirri wey u smoke don expire.

Why are you telling such blatant lies?

Hausa and Fulani have settled and been living in the Plateau for more than 250 years.

If you want Nigeria to be divided, go and meet Nnamdi Azikiwe, Ben Nwabueze, Aguyi-Ironsi and Emeka Ojukwu because these were the people that forcefully ensured Nigeria will never seperate

That is what am saying. It doesn't have to be like that. People should be able to get the indigene certificate of the states they were born and raised, that will promote the idea of one Nigeria more than anything.

onuman:
An Igbo born in the southwest and speaks Yoruba as first language will always go to his or her local government area in the southeast to obtain certificate of indegeneship to acquire Nigerian passport. Never certificate from where he or she was born in the southwest.

Yes. We had Igbos holding positions in Kano all the time.

We have had Igbos holding commissioner office in Kano so many times so stop exposing your ignorance.

The only people who will hate to admit others are south east
Joke is on you and read properly b4 jumping on a reply. We are talking about indigenous rights, you are talking positions. Many individuals have taken positions accross the country, not unique to Kano. Question of indigeneity arises when same individuals now wants to represent Kano. Give me one example where Kano is represented by an igbo or yoruba in an elective position. Only yorubas had done it. Others guard that territory with thier lives!
I infact think the first step is to differentiate between citizenship rights vs indigenous rights to address true federalism.

Nigeria is one country and it is people with your kind of mindset that impede our potential to be a truly cohesive country.

Dotherightthing:
It doesn't matter whether you can speak Yoruba or not

You can't be one of us.

You can't be an indigene.

But it was Ironsi that brought it according to. You guys.
Stop learning Nigeria's history from the mouths of those who thought they won the civil war.
Ironsi was with the military governor of southwest region when northern coup d'etat plotters killed Ironsi and the military governor of the southwest region.

Therefore, regional government was there when Ironsi was killed.

The TRUTH is that Jos Plateau was at Peace, Until the Military- leader Imposed a Stranger to be a Ruler and the Indigene Revolted and till date - No Peace For A State that was Once 🔂 as Peaceful as the Lake Water 💦.
That is how they- eventually brought in ,Terrorists,Bandits and Kidnappers - for ransome and get Sponsorers .
During the military regime? Most states got an outsider as military head of state. Jos I doubt if peace will ever return to that place.

Great... Now they will all apply for the indigene certificates and contest for elective positions in the entire south east
Why not, I am sure Lagos people will cry the loudest. Given number of non indigene in most SE and SS state, their political power may be a bit limited. Imagine if there is a free and fair election in Lagos, non indigene block will be the deciding block.

Christistruth01

So islam is already in Lagos.. grin

stuffs2002:
Islam is nearly 400 years in Yoruba land and you are still talking about someone taking the Qur'an to the sea.

So you think all the Qur'an being read in Lagos for nearly 400 years never got to the sea. Meanwhile there are presently many mosques close to the sea in Lagos.

It is funny we are having this conversation and court had to be involved. Indegineship of what local governments?

There are Local governments that belong to Hausa people right from before the creation of Plateau. They were under Bauchi state and were ceded to Plateaux when Plateaux was created. Unless Plateaux is ready to return those Local governments back to Bauchi, they don't have a case for claiming those people are not indigenes of Plateaux state.

The slogan 'Home of peace and tourism' didn't come out of the blue. Plateau people are known as some of the most peaceful and hospitable people in the entire country. Someone once told me that if a Plateau man reacts badly, it simply means he has been pushed to the extreme.

Plateau was one of the most peaceful states in the country in the 90's.
Exaltly..I schooled in UJ in the 90's and I can attest to its peacefulness until the evil herders came. Very lovely, cheap and peaceful town back then.

Razzness:
All states in Nigeria should adopt assimilation policies if you've lived there long enough or were born and raised there, that is what will make us truly one Nigeria. I would really love a situation where an Igbo man can become an Indigene of Kano and vice versa. That is when Nigeria will become a movement and not a bunch of regional factions forcing coexistence.
It can't work yet in Nigeria

It will lead to Anarchy

Razzness:
All major languages are already being taught in schools. That is not the problem. Children who are born in a particular state, raised there and go to school there grow up with the understanding of the ideologies of that particular state. A lot of Igbos who grow up in the Southwest speak Yoruba as their first language; eat and dress like Yoruba. Why is it a problem for them to identify as indigenes of those states in their official documents?
People like you wey no like to dey face reality dey always make me laugh

Even in the South East, a Yoruba who speak Igbo as his first language, eat and dress like Yoruba won't still b seen as an Indigene of Igbo land.

Even if the Supreme Court and Appeal Court support this judgement, no LG will give non indigenes certificate of indigenes

The court's judgement is constitutionally right but the question is has Nigeria advanced to that level? If going by this judgement, my mother is from Edo and my Dad from Anambra but I was born and raised in Akure Ondo State, that automatically makes me an Akure man, but most times when I try to make any sensible comment social media, name checkers will try to counter me simply because of my name, I could remember there was a benefit that was to come to me through a politician some years back, many fought me on the basis of tribe, if not that I had known that politician beyond politics, I would have lost that benefit. I just hope we'll get there someday but for now, the country is so tensed that we suspect everyone of ourselves on the basis of tribe. We are still not matured for this!
