People forget that the ANC led by Mandela were a radical leftist Marxist movement .

The ANC got support from the Marxist govt of Mozambique and from communist rebels in Angola.

The ANC was more into imposing communism on South Africa than fighting against Apartheid.

So when Mandela became President, he promised one million free homes to the black population and a land redistribution policy to take land from white Afrikaan farmers and redistribute it to black south Africans

Mandela's ANC also went soft on crime by abolishing the death penalty and reduced sentencing guidelines for violent offenders . You will see western liberals doing the same thing in the US and across Europe which has seen to an escalation of crime.

The ANC also relaxed immigration into SA from other African countries.

But Mandela and subsequent ANC govts found out they could not keep up with their promise to usher in a communist utopia rather, the black leadership has seen to corruption, greater wealth disparity between white and black South Africans with only the black political bloc gaining wealth.

So it's not surprising to see more and more black South Africans still holding to the unrealistic Marxist doctrine of the ANC.

In the USA it's been done though and we call it tax refund if you can file your tax yourself. In a working country like Nigeria it's something that can be done. Even in the USA if you don't work you are placed on benefits. Pray for Nigeria to be better and stop talking what's not.

I just watched a video on social media where Mandela was specially thanking Nigeria for helping SA during apartheid, saying how Nigeria provided them with financial support, provide scholarship for their children, provide doctors, engineers etc stood with them to gained freedom and even said Nigeria alone spend a whooping nearly $60billion but today but these useless lazy ingrate sending us and all African out as thank you ba?

Nigerians do not expect much from their government except the provision of basic amenities which the government has failed woefully unlike SA where the government actually does a lot for them.. SA government is the only one one Africa that gives free Electricity, free water, free RDP houses and minimum social security grants of R350 per month depending on how many kids u have, and yet they are not happy with that and be wanting more..

I had an Afrikaner friend once, lovely huge guy that was a former Rugby player and liked me enough to be able to say his true feelings without mincing words as he knew me well as one that won't judge him.

I have lost touch with him now, let's just say he wasn't wrong about his postulations on his black countrymen and their warped sense of reasoning when it comes to expectations.

You will be surprised that a lot of black South Africans support this assertion of receiving a million rand a year from the government, and not just the unemployed and unemployable ones that are going around shutting foreign owned businesses that employ their people.

This is a lie sold by Nigerian politicians to the citizens so you don’t expect better from them. As an economist, so long your production (GDP per capita) exceeds your spending and money printing then you will not trigger inflation by paying more. Many European countries and even the US pay unemployment benefits to protect the vulnerable from falling into the poverty trap. It has many advantages such as reducing crime and preventing multidimensional poverty that can transfer from generation to generation (which becomes harder to solve and brings societal issues).

So long Nigerian Government keeps telling you that if they pay you higher it will trigger inflation, you will be discouraged from demanding higher.

Now to the South African case, they are probably not producing enough to give all unemployed 1 million Rand a year but you cannot say until you see their financial statements. They may have to give less than 1 million or an amount that falls within what they can pay within their GDP range.
