PRESS RELEASE

OGUN POLICE DISMANTLE CRIME NETWORKS, ARREST SIX SUSPECTS, RECOVER ONE PUMP-ACTION RIFLE, ONE LOCALLY FABRICATED PISTOL, AMMUNITION, FIVE GENERATORS AND NINE PHONES

The Ogun State Police Command, through coordinated and swift intelligence-led operations by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), and Ibafo Division, has recorded decisive breakthroughs across Abeokuta, Wasimi and Ibafo, leading to the arrest of six suspects: Afisu Awesu ‘M’, Bala Aminu ‘M’, Moruf Sodiq ‘M’ alias “Okiki”, Mumuni Amodu ‘M’ alias “Stone”, Abayomi John ‘M’ alias “Ibafo”, and Mr Adeboye Ojesina ‘M’.

The operations, executed with precision and speed following actionable intelligence, led to the disruption of multiple criminal networks involved in illegal possession of firearms, armed intimidation, theft, conspiracy, and receiving stolen property. Recovered exhibits include one pump-action rifle, one locally fabricated pistol, two live cartridges, one expended cartridge, five generators, and nine Android mobile phones suspected to have been stolen.

1. VCRU DISMANTLES GENERATOR THEFT SYNDICATE, RECOVERS STOLEN EXHIBITS

Acting on credible and time-sensitive intelligence on May 30, 2026, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit swiftly trailed and arrested Moruf Sodiq ‘M’ alias “Okiki”, a key suspect linked to a coordinated generator theft network operating within Abeokuta and environs.

The suspect promptly led operatives to Mumuni Amodu ‘M’ alias “Stone”, identified as the receiver of stolen property. A swift search of the premises led to the recovery of four Elepaq generators, one Sumec Fireman generator, and nine Android mobile phones suspected to have been recently stolen.

In a further breakthrough, operatives arrested Abayomi John ‘M’ alias “Ibafo”, a motorcyclist who allegedly provided rapid logistics support, conveying suspects to targeted locations during operations. The suspects are currently in custody while discreet investigation continues to identify and arrest other members of the syndicate.

2. SWAT OPERATIVES STORM ILLEGAL ARMS NETWORK, RECOVER FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION

On June 12, 2026, acting on credible and actionable intelligence, operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit swiftly apprehended Mr Adeboye Ojesina ‘M’, aged 58 years, in connection with unlawful possession of firearms and alleged use of same to threaten residents within Wasimi and adjoining communities.

A prompt search led to the recovery of one locally fabricated pistol, one pump-action rifle, two live cartridges, and one expended cartridge.

The suspect initially denied ownership but later made a statement claiming he recovered the pistol within the area and discharged a round to test its functionality, while also alleging the pump-action rifle was handed over to him by an unidentified individual currently being trailed by operatives.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other persons connected to the case, while the suspect remains in custody as investigation progresses.

3. IBAFO DIVISION UNCOVERS VEHICLE PARTS THEFT NETWORK, ARRESTS RECEIVER IN SWIFT OPERATION

On June 13, 2026, operatives attached to Ibafo Division, acting swiftly on a complaint of theft at a site in Igbeti Sote Village via Ibafo, launched immediate investigative action which led to the interception of Afisu Awesu ‘M’ while attempting to steal a forklift engine component with an accomplice who escaped.

Further rapid investigation revealed that the suspects had earlier stolen forklift tyres from the same location and disposed of same to Bala Aminu ‘M’ of Kara, Ibafo. Acting without delay, detectives arrested Bala Aminu as the alleged receiver of stolen property.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplice and fully dismantle the criminal network. The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, commends the swift response, professionalism, and operational efficiency of the VCRU, SWAT, and Ibafo Division in the execution of these successful operations.

The CP reiterates the Command’s unwavering commitment to rapid, intelligence-driven policing and sustained pressure on criminal elements to ensure they have no space to operate within Ogun State. He further assures residents of continued proactive policing and swift response to security threats.

Many state commands are failing to make their achievements public. The PROs of such commands should be replaced immediately. If you cannot publicize your oga/ officers achievements, then you are in the wrong position

Why is the Nigerian police disgracing themselves?

Fulani terrorists are with ak47, gpmg assault rifles, rocket launchers and other sophisticated weapons kidnaping, raping, killing and burning houses and all the police catches are domesticated petty thieves, who steal matches and Maggi.

Shameless police.

All guns taken out of criminal gangs are indicators of effective police work.

That pump-shotgun in the photograph will rip a kilogram of flesh and bone out of a human body when used at close range. It is a terrible weapon that is actually quicker and deadlier than the legendary AK47 when the range is less than 40 meters, such as would be the case within buildings, or in thick jungle.

The pump action does NOT require marksmanship to be deadly. Just point it in the general direction of the threat, and proceed to blast away until you see meat plastering the walls.

While the recent successes recorded by the Ogun State Police Command in dismantling criminal networks and recovering stolen items are commendable, many Nigerians remain deeply concerned about the broader security situation across the country.

Kidnapping and banditry continue to threaten communities, and families are still waiting for the safe return of abducted victims, including reports of school children who remain in captivity.

At a time when insecurity is affecting daily life and economic activities, many citizens are questioning whether national priorities and resources are being directed toward the most urgent challenges.

Security must remain the government's foremost responsibility. Beyond celebrating isolated operational successes, Nigerians expect sustained action, stronger intelligence gathering, improved coordination among security agencies, and visible progress in rescuing victims and preventing future attacks.

The safety of citizens should always come first.
