Haha.., how can Nigerians watch these channels? With the sun I suppose? It is obvious this government is clear out of touch with the current state of the nation.

Use this money to buy armed drones and go after bandits and other criminals. Subsidize fuel to bring back our economy.

More than 70% of Nigerians are hungry and angry with this government. Everything they do is to siphon monies through elephant projects! Nonsense
Subsides on fuel would cost at least 23 -30 trillion naira, or about half our budget...to bring fuel down to N200 for one year, should we bring them back.

Also, drones and so forth need far more money

Obidients will still be very sad at the prospect of free digital TV, despite their inability to afford subscription for pay TV

That's a nice development, nah to anticipate the so called freeTV and see what it got to offer to Nigerians.

Atleast poor Nigerians at large will not have to add cable subscriptions to their bills every month.

People must work and not sit at home to watch TV.
It's the height of laziness to sit and watch TV all the day.
Create jobs for people to work.100 channels, to do what exactly?
I don't recall the last time l turn on my TV.My cables are even disconnected.

Another avenue to siphon. Government shouldn't own any propaganda TV. There are enough TV stations out there
This default mindset of Nigerians is terrible.

You put them in a position, first thing they think is how to steal.

They see a government initiative, first thing on thier mind is “oh another avenue to steal”.

No initiative, no forward thinking.

Employ them in your business, they are fashioning how to profit and steal from another man’s sweat.

This mindset is terrible and it’s part of the reason we are backward.

This man had promised many things but literally did none.

Nothing free can come from a man that's busy taxing anything and everything.

This is just like a lion on a book page, if you know you know. And the question is what happened to NITEL? Won't this be another easy money to their bursting bank accounts?

Television is not our priority at this time. In a country where people cannot walk down the street without looking over their shoulders, assurances that their lives and livelihoods are secure are needed, not free TV.

This is undoubtedly a distraction from the biting hunger, economic collapse and insecurity currently plaguing the country. When will this useless government rescue hundreds of Nigerians in the bushes and forests?.

This TV deceit must be seen for what it is: a deliberate distraction from the real issues ahead of the upcoming election.
Oga, shut your trap! If it was Obi that said he wants to do free TV, you will be telling us all the advantages of this idea! Now your talking rubbish! People like you said it was because Obi donate laptops to schools that was why education improved in Anambra state. We all know the students never saw the laptops not to even touch them but you agree it's a cause and effect thing. Now someone is given us free to air TV ( over 100 stations) ! You're not looking at the multiplier effect like easy assess to broadcasting by entertainers, advertising spread, boast in the entertainment industry etc. Rubbish!

What happened to the Free tv we are currently using at home with #2,500 subscription annually.

The signal strength is VERY POOR, any slight changes in the weather condition always affect the signal. All the CHANNELS are locals with poor quality signals and contents

Okay, here is how much NTA gets in a year....it gets its money from the Ministry of Information, whose budget is...1.5 billion for capital, 1.27 billion for overhead...all in naira.

If you want to upgrade to international standards (don't back away now)...let's see how much international standard government stateions around the world get in terms of budget

France : 3.8 billion euros or 6 trillion naira...to all its audiovisual channels..france televisions and the radio service.
The Netherlands: 1.2 billion euros...or 1.8 tillion naira.
Japan : 1.7 trillion naira

AND THE UK...the gold standard...BBC...9.2 trillion naira.

How much is NTA's proposed budget again...ah yes, it is sharing 3 billion naira with FRCN and others.

If I say that Nigerians should pay something like they do in the UK and Japan television licence fees..which account for a significant amount of funding for the BBC and NHK Budget for example, I am sure most of you will call me a tinubu supporter.

Yet, there is no TV station that can reach international standard on just...less than 3 billion naira.
How do private stations like Channels TV and other private tv stations, which provide better quality service, manage to get by? Do they actually receive the level of funding you just described?

Listen to yourself! How much has the current government borrowed? Or the monies realized from the removal of subsidies? Electrical tariffs? Gas etc.

This government is just useless!

The mindset of some hypocrites who call themselves Nigerians is terrible. Very terrible.

Hypocrites pretending that corruption is not endemic in Nigeria, and expecting Nigerians to automatically trust anything without government proving themselves worthy to be trusted.

These people are very terrible. They praised Buhari for 8 years as the best knowing he was doing a bad job, and they’re expecting Nigerians to move on and trust the same government destroying their savings and lives

Failed governments usually have some shame and try to avoid public confrontation. The fact that these hypocrites boldly come out publicly to defend the most corrupt and failed governments should tell you who they really are.

Tueh!

For those who want to know, the Nigeria Digital Switch Over program started some years back, in fact, Nigeria is even lagging behind other African Nations in the programme. Many countries have phased out analogue broadcast. But here, the giant of Africa and the most populous black nation on earth is still rocking analogue TV. Na who dey do us these things?

Oga don't mind them. Only someone with a criminal mind will think everyone is a criminal. Instead of trying to key into the advantages of this policy, all he's thinking about is stealing! Next thing he'll say is that Nigerians are hungry! Always looking at the price of rice and beans like a glutton instead of looking for opportunities.
