nairalanda1:The fact that you're comparing a civil war with banditry and terrorism shows you deserve every insult you get. |

Sagay should keep his mouth shut and hold his peace forever. He was a staunch buharist who lost brain cells in 2015.. He should be ashamed of himself.. |

People of the middle belt and south should never trust the nigerian security system again. Infiltration of the country by terrorist is what the govt is promoting. Open your eyes. |

nairalanda1:I’m actually from Sierra Leone. All what you said happened because the rebels decided to sit at a table with the government and have a truce conversation. The leadership of the rebels was not fragmented. They had a central governance system that was approachable. The govt didn’t play politics with the crisis by papering the rebels. It went full force on the rebels with all the support required including the use of ECOMOG forces and these weakened the rebels leaving them with no choice but to come to the negotiation table. The govt did not outrightly pampered the rebels by giving them amnesty or rehabilitating them indiscriminately. Their rehabilitation didn’t come during the active war. It only came after they voluntarily surrendered and gave up fighting the war. They weren’t just integrated just like that after their disarmament and rehabilitation. They had to face their victims in a face-to-face encounter and their victims decided to whole-heartedly forgive them before they were then integrated into various communities. That was the job of the TRC you mentioned. The perpetrators were arrested and tried and some of them are running life sentences. This was the role of the special court in Freetown and the International Criminal court in the Haque. The issue with what is happening in Nigeria is that the terrorists groups are too fragmented and it will be difficult to get a peace deal in such situation. The government will only be negotiating from a position of weakness at this point. The govt is also giving amnesty to terrorists with religious extremism mindsets now mixed with the hunger to kidnap for ransom when the crisis is still very active without any form of accountability from these benefliciaries and at the expense of their victims. Also, there are many foreign interests especially from the Middle East funding the crisis. There is also a component of greed through illicit mining fueling it. So for now, the govt should first try to decimate these miscreants to the lowest as possible and watch them come out to ask for peace. |

AMKAG66:At the end of the day, we can;t afford another repeat of boko haram...hence we got to use a combination of amnesty, and dealing with the resistant ones. Also, sitting down with government does not mean sierra leone rebels violence was somehow better than nigerian boko violence. Like I said, I don't like saying what I said, but the world's not black and white. |

erad:So, atrocities in civil war are better and good, while atrocities in banditry and terorism are somehow bad, because they are not civil war? So, when a guy rapes women in civil war, it's all good, he can get rehab, because he is better than the guy who does it in the name of allah or something? Thanks for educating me. |
