You sabi. I rep 7th Avenue where the Aquilas, faze plantahun boiz and Black tribe originated from.

All 3 you mentioned are not underrated to me, they are well respected and recognized till now when ever they step.

Jesse Jagz, Ruff rugged n raw, Blaise are not recognized as top MCs, even freestyle of tribesmen is underrated but they all had fire in them that few could quench back in the days.

Mode 9 is very good in rap but his beats were off key with nasty choruses.

Tubaba showed him how to make rap hit in " This Lagos wey we dey so...is our own '

But ,the big bros no dey listen to correction.
You are right. He was too hard core for the Nigerian audience. His biggest song is Cry. And it had a good chorus. But I still respect Mode 9 anyday anytime.

How I wish I have d opportunity to blend some of his raps to my choruses and rebrand it.

Waste or rap.

The lyrics of one rap song is more than 20 afro beat tracks

Most of these kids who call themselves rappers today are not actually rappers. I call them murmurers. All they do is just to murmur on beats, and that is it. It is popularly believed that RAP is an acronym of Rhythmically Applied Poetry.. This means that rap itself is a form of poetry which is supposed to be deep, lyrical, and meaningful. Today, kids throw all sort of lines on beats. Just imagine someone saying: "I go blow like hurricane, and I still dey chew sugarcane". I mean what is the connection in blowing like hurricane and still chewing sugarcane? God have mercy!

Below are 5 most underrated Nigerian rappers of all time put together by WarriParrot.

1. GINO: Born Gino Agoi from Edo State, but raised in Lagos. He is the younger brother of popular comedian, Owen Gee, and an elder brother to Nigerian music producer, Sossick. In 2006, Gino released a hit single titled 'No Be God'? He featured C'Mion. The song portrays everyday life in the streets of Lagos and how difficult it is for young Nigerians to achieve success through hardwork. If that song nor fit inspire you, my brother nothing fit inspire you again. The single is part of a greater project, his debut album titled 'Pain Plus Work'. The album contains other songs like 'Farabale'.

'No Be God'? is so unique that MTV Base's Diary on Jay-Z used it to highlight the similarities between America's hip-hop culture and the Nigerian underground scene.

2. MODE 9: His real name is Babatunde Olusegun Adewale. He was born in London, United Kingdom to Nigerian parents. Mode 9 is regarded as one of the most gifted artist in African hip-hop. He is celebrated for his complex wordplay and conscious lyricism. Moddy's punchlines threw many wack rappers out of the game, and made some go back to the studio to write better lyrics. He is one of the pioneers of modern rap music in Africa.

3. NAETO-C: His real name is Naetochukwu Okeoma Chikwe. He is the son of former Nigeria Minister of Aviation, Dr (Mrs) Kema Chikwe. He was born on December 17, 1982 in Houston, Texas, United States of America. He is the first Nigerian rapper to bag an MSc degree. His songs 'You Know My P', 'Kini Big Deal', and 'Ten Over Ten' are still bangers anyday and anytime. His long time friend, Ikechukwu was also a huge contributor to Naeto's music career. Naeto C lives a quiet life, and does not like to show off his family on the internet.

4. EVA ALORDIAH: Elohor Eva Alordiah (born 13 August 1989), better known as Eva Alordiah or simply Eva, is a Nigerian rapper, make-up artist, and entrepreneur. Her contributions to the Nigerian music industry have earned her several accolades, including one Nigeria Entertainment Award, one Eloy Award, and one YEM award.

5. LORD OF AJASA: His real name is Olusegun Osaniyi. He earned the name Lord of AJasa (Lord of Flavour) in his days as a polytechnic student in Ondo State. Despite the fact that he rapped in Yoruba language, this brother spit some of the hottest lyrics way back. He teamed up with 9ice, ID Cabasa, and 2Phat of Alapomeji Records to give us some of the hottest rap songs back then in the early 2000s.

CREDITS: There are some folks I give maximum credits to. First is Eedris Abdulkareem. Dude was one of the pioneers of rap music in Nigeria. I also recognise Pherowshuz, Blaise, Kemistry, Sasha P, Seriki, and Ikechukwu of the World Famous Akademy.
The list is not complete without Eriga

Why wouldn't they be underrated when they're busy acting like black American wannabes by mimicking the black American vibe?

What we need are authentic African rappers who are the epitome of African excellence and culture... I'd rather listen to American hip hop, which is the real deal than these ones.
Samantha125, mention five most underrated South African rappers of all time.

2. Elder
3. Sasha
4. Freestyle
5. Eldee
And others from the group.

Re: 5 Most Underrated Nigerian Rappers Of All Time by antibullshit: 11:16pm On Jun 19
For you to think that Eedris is a pioneer shows that your hip hop knowledge doesn't go back far enough. Eedris is an OG but he's not one of the pioneers. However ,Eedris can tell you who the pioneers are because those are the people who inspired him. Look for his interview on the honest Bunch podcast,he mentioned them. The real pioneers of Nigerian rap are mostly unknown to most people because they didn't put out albums but inspired those who did. They're known mostly by people who were also rappers or people who went to the shows where they performed.

The Moment I didn't see Jesse Jagz Name as Number 1, that's how I knew the OP doesn't know jack. Just go listen to Jagz First Three (3) Albums ( Jagz of all Tradez, Jagz Nation Vol. 1&2). I bet that your opinion will change unless you just skim through Songs, Bars, Schemes... No rapper from Nigeria Can beat that even M.I. or Mode 9 Forget nostalgia, I'm from their era.

Maybe it's because he's a producer/ rapper that's why his name is usually overlooked but I can bet you that he's the best brained rapper that Nigeria has ever had Sonically, Lyrically, Artistically and what have you....
This man practically Sings, Rap, produce et Al all his albums and that of other Choc boys.

Please feel free to Quote my comment with any Rapper's name from Nigeria that can go neck to neck with Jesse Jagz, I mean bars, albums even production.

The problem I have with him is that he always appear or seem more intelligent than his listener, I mean always. You have to be really intelligent, Smart hiphop minded to understand him.

The rest of the Rappers you guys have mentioned can't lace Jagz shoes. I'm an avid hiphop mind and encyclopedia so trust me on this.

As in... Jesse Jagz is so underrated. No rapper on that list can stand J. Jagz in any capacity. Thanks for pointing this out because I've been following hip-hop for a long time, I've seen all of them and nobody comes close.

TyrellObi:
Jesse Jagz not being in this list is a crime...

Eva is overrated... She got to where she is because she's attractive...

The only real rapper there is Eva Alordiah. She was never underrated. She was the bomb Queen of rap in Naija. No male rapper ever came close.

Mode9 or wtv was always overrated back then and that's why he faded cos the crown was too big to fill. He's just a veteran

Lord of Ajasa was one those who started rapping with Yoruba. He was never underrated.

Naeto C was just there
I think you should change the topic from underrated rappers to something else

Underrated rappers of all times were, Munachi, Tha Suspect, Jesse Jaggz... Can't think of any more now.
