I suspect that Ibrahim Battijo invaded Iluke and planned to kidnap school children in order to use them as bargaining chip for his mother and sister. Basically, "If you release my mother and sister, then I'll release the school children".

A terrorist has previously used this tactic when his father was arrested by the DSS.

He failed, thanks to 12 Brigade Nigerian Army.

I'm just imagining the cost of this operation to the Nigerian government just bcoz some people were not properly brought up by their parents.

Thanks to the Nigerian Army, the kidnap of children in Kogi failed. If not, we would have had an additional mess in our hands. I believe that soon the children in Oyo would be freed.

Seems like the soldiers don't have strategy. According to accounts by two victims ... they were being marched into the forest when gunshots from the soldiers caused the bandits to abandon them and scatter into the forests. Is it the soldiers started firing before they even got close to the group? ... as in firing warning shots to announce "we're on our way to rescue you and deal with the bandits"? Is it they are poor shooters? ... not enough target practice? ... how can in almost every confrontation ... almost all of the bandits [I]escape into the bushes with bullet wounds?[/i] Even if that's the case... why don't they go after the wounded bandits?... they can't get far with bullet wounds from hi powered guns. Then to exhume the body of the leader... a Police and a military helicopter were used. Why aren't these helicopters used in the operations against the bandits?... used to track them?.. to relay information on their escape routes? It's good for the military to have showed up and rescue the victims ... but I expected them to be professional... having strategy to confront... contain and eliminate the bandits as a combat unit should . I've seen a video posted here sometime ago with soldiers confronting bandits... they were sooo unprofessional and disorganized... everybody shouting and shooting... like just letting off shots and hoping they somehow connect to the enemy.
After all this... the sister and mother charged.... the bandits are still out there... case closed

They had lined up the children and were marching them into the forest when troops of 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army showed up and engaged the terrorists.

The leader of the terrorists, Ibrahim Battijo, was killed during the encounter, but his men carried his corpse into the bush.

This is what I want to be reading. Every single time. Engage these idiots. Good job, troops of the 12 Brigage.

If I'm the one kidnapped, engage them. Storm their camp. I'd be rather be shot in the cross fire than be slaughtered in cold blood by those idiots.
