HeavenlyBang:
Came back home today after a few hours out to find my FibreX without Internet connection.

Called 217, put in my FNID and they told me it's invalid?
Called 300, got transferred to FibreX support, and then they say my FNID is now registered to an entirely different personhuhhuh
Something similar happened to me recently too.I think they have some serious data mix-up with their system recently.
I got a call from 217 ( MTN fiber customer care line) where the caller wrongly identified me by asking me if I was someone else ,and also asked if a wrong FN ID number and residential address belonged to me. But the funny bit was that the caller got my phone number and email address right. So from the above it seems my phone number and email address was given to another customer who has a different name and a different FN ID Number and who is obviously not me.

I was unable to use my FibreX between April 29th and May 6th due to a LOS issue, MTN had to send someone from their offices to resolve it on the pole. I've been requesting compensation for a week since then and till today, I've not gotten anything. They keep telling me that it's still in review, as how now 😂
Same happened to me too where my fibreX was down for about 3 weeks. You'll eventually be compensated. But they won't inform you when they do, the number of lost days will just be added to your account

Yeah they need to sort this out ASAP.

Anyway, I called again by 8 this morning and the FNID issue had been resolved though I still didn’t have internet. By around 11, my internet connection was back.

All good now.

Edit: Gone again

This mtn Fibre x is overhyped,to me it does not really Worth it,it may be something good in South West States like Lagos but not really really impressive in the Eastern part of the country.

I am a starlink user,so i decided to try fibre x because they just installed in my street,to be very honest i am really really NOT impressed with what i got. I thought mtn Fibre x latency is a one digit number like from 9ms down. Why am i getting 23 sometimes 35ms.

I subscribed to the 100mbps plan but i don't know if i feel alright about this 100mbps,it feels kind of slow performance. I think i am going back to Starlink, maybe i expected too much from fibre x.

What latency number are you guys getting?
One thing i like about mtn fibre x is that it's energy efficient compare to Starlink.

My brother.. I am a Starlink user too and MTN FIBER X dey my street/area so. (Lagos). Infact, pole dey opp my house. Negative comments i av been reading about it discouraged me from switching and coupled with the excellent customer service support i am always receiving from Starlink.. MTN no fit ever

MTN is only good for its less power consumption compared to Starlink

I see people dey suffer in the hands of MTN customer service and even installers sef.. I am not ready to go through this headache

You're absolutely spot on!
It's crazy to even compare satellite internet to Fibre. Just shows you how terrible MTN and other local ISPs are.

If you want internet that is dependable (and you can afford it), save yourself the headache and go for starlink.

My MTN fibre has been blinking red light since yesterday, I have checked all the connections and everything seems intact...it happened all of a sudden, please what do I do?

Hmm. The amount of complaints here is really discouraging. They just installed it in my street in Abuja.

Broken fiberglass. You'll need new cabling from the FAT on the pole to your ONT.

Even 35ms latency is considered excellent, even for demanding things like online gaming and 4k video streaming. What on earth are you doing that you need 9ms for?

Besides, FiberX has more stable jitter and less packet loss than Starlink.

As with all forums, it's a sampling issue since people are more likely to come online and complain vs come online and tell you they have no issues.

Whenever you have a downtime report it on the hub (FibreX.mtn.ng) and also follow it up with a call to 217.

Check the Airtel thread and compare, this doesn't even scratch theirs. The service in Abuja is great and they respond/resolve issue quite fast, Just make sure you report it as soon as you notice.

I totally disagree with most of the complaints here. MTN FibreX has been working excellently well in my area here in Benin City. When there is an issue, they send a text apologizing, and when it's resolved they send another text to inform me. Anytime I call 217 to lay a complaint, it's usually resolved on time, and I usually get a call asking me if everything is ok. I'm truly impressed.

And trust me when I tell you that all I've said is true. I don't work for MTN neither do I have any relative working for MTN. My FibreX connection works excellently well for my 75 inches qled TV (never had buffers), downloading games from Gamebato on my ps4 is fast, I have two laptops connected, and about 6 mobile phones, everything is blazing and I'm on the 50mbps plan.

Fiber is great when it works. But the moment there's vandalism of the infrastructure, frustration sets in. In Nigeria, you can't rely on fiber 100%, which means you must have a backup internet for when there's an interruption of the service.

Just installed the Mtn fibre x in our head office. having 9ms latency. Did the 100Mbps plan, and it is very fast. Downloaded 1gb file in less than a minute or 2..Still rocking it, ditched the airtel 5g because its not really unlimited, its 1TB and the latency is bad for gaming. Will give you update as e dey go. registered and fixed in 24 hrs, even activated in 24 hrs. MTN has improved the waiting time for activation. Its instant activation guys..
