NDC’s Anti-defection Policy Dubious — Sam Amadi by SlavaUkraini(op): 9:27am On Jun 20
The Director, Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, Sam Amadi, had described the anti-defection policy of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, as dubious.

Amadi made this statement on Friday during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’.

He was speaking on the recent anti-defection policy introduced by the NDC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The policy required candidates seeking elective offices on its platform to sign legal documents committing to vacate their positions if they leave the party after winning elections.

Reacting, Amadi said, “I think this NDC’s anti-defection policy is dubious. The psychology and sense in which the party is pushing this act could be considered as a distrust in its candidates and shows weakness.

Their focus should be on winning the election and the presidency. Once you win the presidency, the people there will stay with you. And so the history says that once you lose, people will likely go for the winner’s party.

“And so, for me, at this point, it quite doesn’t suggest strength, it doesn’t suggest coherence, it rather suggests distrust of their own candidates.

“So, NDC doing this looks like innovation, but in essence, it’s really a sign of lack of trust on those who are taking the ticket, and a sense of its own weakness.”

You find that selfish and dull peter OBI with NNPP/PDP/APC/ADC internally displaced politicians in a party and you questioning how dubious they are?

NDC is the congregation of the worst off from other parties.

if you can make it with other parties then go ahead...
But once you join them, and you won...then no going back

What is dubious about the policy? Is that not what the spirit of the law says even though dubious politicians have been finding loopholes to circumvent the law?
Re: NDC’s Anti-defection Policy Dubious — Sam Amadi by DomPerignon: 2:02pm On Jun 20
What is this one saying ?

So they should use NDC like they did LP and then dump the party later.
Re: NDC’s Anti-defection Policy Dubious — Sam Amadi by victoryenergy: 2:03pm On Jun 20
The way some politicians defect to other party because of their interest is also dubious, you can only use dubiousness to cure dubiousness, so if it does not sit well with any candidate, the candidate can try other party, is as simple as that.
Re: NDC’s Anti-defection Policy Dubious — Sam Amadi by givedemwotowoto: 2:03pm On Jun 20
Invalid agreement before the court of law.

A private political party agreement cannot override the constitution or force anybody to leave an office they occupy as a result of leaving the party

Nonsense.

That’s an invalid agreement. It holds no water
it will be legally bind, do you think the people implementing it are fools.
Re: NDC’s Anti-defection Policy Dubious — Sam Amadi by kgr8mike(m): 2:08pm On Jun 20
Party wins election so if you defect you vacate simple.

Nigeria don't field individual as candidates but political parties. So a party can't win an election and you carry it's victory to another party. It's robbery.

National Assembly should push and consolidate that narrative. It will strengthen our democracy.

Arsenal cannot win EPL and you carry the trophy to Chelsea when you move.

Defect from NDC and vacate their victory seat simple!

Party agreement can’t override the constitution.

You can’t submit their letter of resignation on their behalf, you’ll still give it to them to submit and they’ll shred it to pieces.

We are talking of how to make politicians stop their madness of defection and a party introduces a policy to discourage it; you are saying dubious. What is dubious, is it the people who defects anyhow or a party that wants to strength loyalty to itself?

Sometimes these so-called analysts think they know it all. Pls NDC, tighten the noose wella!

Nothing dubious about it.. Dickson knows NDC can't win the presidency. Noone decamps from a ruling party. Sure, NDC will win some national assembly seat in the SE and SS and Dickson wants to keep them for his 2031 ambition.

Didn't they all become members of the party by decamping from other partieshuh

Who is this Sam Amadi, was it not Ebola Tinupoo and his APC party that introduced this so called anti detection law in the senator and nobody heard this one voice and NDC have decided to implement it this one is here ranting.
Watch the way those Ebola Tinupoo zombies that applauding this anti detection law will start attacking NDC and ofcourse Peter Obi for what their Messiah Ebola Tinupoo introduced
Re: NDC’s Anti-defection Policy Dubious — Sam Amadi by emkz: 2:42pm On Jun 20
I see nothing dubious in NDC.

Most of the politicians in NDC, including the founder, are politically unstable migrants. The party does not trust those who have come. The presidential flagbearer has moved among five political parties within twelve years. His running mate moved among five parties. Some of the politically-unstable ones even rejected tickets because they felt too big to hold those tickets.

Let NDC protect itself. LP failed to learn and the party collapsed.

I was just searching for this post. I knew a sensible person will come along and say what needed to be said.

Defection while in office is supposed to result in loss of that seat, and the election re-run. I believe this is actually a law, but it's conveniently ignored.

Why would people place their trust in a person, he gets their mandate, then he runs off to join the same band of criminals the people were avoiding, in exchange for a huge payout?

The current defections to APC are actually unlawful, and I would make bold to say they are criminal.

Outlawing defection of officeholders is actually the right thing to do!

Obi the party jumper is the cause of this.

Despite swearing with his life not to leave apga, the nomad has left APGA, PDP, LP, ADC and now about to leave the NDC.

That guy is political parties wanderer 😂 grin.
