Pride and title are just what is killing most Africans who contribute nothing new to that field but make it seem as if it were a cult. Counter his erroneous practice, not title. People had been practicing medicine from ages past.
Does that make them a Doctor/Surgeon?

Shortcut abi?
Don't worry, you or your family member will be their first victim

I suggest there should be a shorter and modular academic pathway created for people like this who have the practical experience so they can become certified.
With this, the number of quacks can be reduced and integrated into the system where there is regulation of activities.

I know a man who studied medicine and surgery but didn't finish due to hardship.

For years he was just floating until he met a millionaire who's case defied all professional treatment.

This man only prescribed drug not more that 8k. This millionaire was reluctant but he was persuaded by his wife. He took the medics and I'm less than 3 days the man was fit like a fiddle.

All these doctors get jealous when they see an uneducated cure a patient.

The thing dey make them mad ..

I guess you see nothing wrong with the concept of "repentant bandits" also.
It is really scary when the so called leaders of tomorrow are not thinking different from the very old men who have wrecked this country with their archaic ideologies.

If we should explore this route, why then do we have a system created to train professionals?

He doesn't need to add that he's a specialist surgeon that he isn't.

Lots of people give medical advise without claiming such titles which are actually misleading.

I'm not supporting quacks in any profession but there have been some instances where some were to be amputated and at last were successfully treated by traditional bone setters.
In as much as i do not want to discredit the work of this traditional bone setters, especially in very Rural settings with little or no access to health care. But you know what, most cases that have ended up as amputation in the hospital are as a result of trials and error from this traditional bone setters, in which in many cases they end up compromising the vascular integrity of the affected limbs or body parts leading to ischaemic changes or gangrene of the limb. So after such trials this patients ends up in the hospital at a point where nothing can be salvaged. So it's either they end up with amputation as the only option to keep them alive.
Yes I agree in simple fracture cases this bone setters might do their trial and it works , however not in all instances. They work blindly , no knowledge of an Xray or knowledge of a Doppler scan incase of a vascular injury. Most cases of deformed limbs or disproportional limb discrepancies started from the initial trials and error of this bone setters.
Please let's be guided when we are making some kind of claims

Bros let me advice you now before it's too late, take your mum to see a qualified Doctor before it becomes too late. In Nigeria everyone claims to know everything or claims to have an idea of everything.

Okay thanks. I have though and amlodipine and bondiuretic was prescribed which she has been taking regularly and her BP is normal. However, my concern is if there are other “natural” ways to keep her BP in check. I am really concerned with all these drug consumption all the time. Thanks for your advice though.

Please do not say this. There should NEVER be a shorter means to learn a profession...those who took time to set the time frame are not daft...
If someone tells you he "studied" medicine in 3 years tell me you will lay down on his surgical table...just tell me please.
LOL.. Funny people. Physicians don't want people watering down their course of study via shorter pathways to certification. But they are the greatest advocate for watering down the training and practice of other medical courses such as Pharmacy, MedLab, Nursing etc.

They train and employ quacks like Auxiliary nurses, pharm Assts and unlicensed SLTs to run their clinics and labs..and still blame the real professionals for quackery... Laughable...grin

There are no short cuts to education.

If what she has been taking is actually controlling her BP , then there is no cause for alarm. Those antihypertensives drugs have undergone several randomized clinical trials and have been proven to be effective with recommended dosaging. So you dont have to change the winning team.
Don't compromise your mum's life with unverified claims of natural or herbal medications with no proper scientific backing or dosage.
Think about the complications of Hypertension eg . stroke, heart failures, retinopathy, encephalopathy , Chronic kidney disease and myocardiac infarction( I am sure you don't want any of this for her). Just allow ur mum go for her routine medical check up and continue her prescribed medication and she would be fine.

You're right, you could see I didn't generalised I said some of them and it'll also be a difficult thing to know those who are good, maybe base on recommendation.

Back then a colleague of mine was shot by armed robber in a bank. He spent months at the hospital at last they wanted to cut off his leg, his siblings later took him to his own town and he was successfully treated without being amputated even though he's limping the leg after then

See ba, I'm am genuinely wishing you well. But there is such a thing as co-incidence. The story has so many holes in it, it's ridiculous. That said, it's easy to claim what you've said, I don't dispute miracles.
But the reason lightening doesn't strike the same place twice is because the chances are quite slim.

Doctors acting like only the academic pathways exist.

There are gifted hands. Yes we understand the need for certification. But there are those outside the professional confine who understand this procedures in great details from practical engagement. It's like saying a certified engineer vs a road side mechanic. You would be shock how skilled and very well improvised some of them are.

Rather than critic his academic background. How about study it's work background and people who have gone through his hands. How competent practically is he?
