A lot of Nigerians are planning to leave this country, but most of them make costly mistakes that delay them for years or waste hundreds of thousands of naira.

I have put together everything I know about the relocation process, visas, finances, documents, country options, and how to prepare yourself before you even apply.

Here are a few things most people don't know:
1. Your bank statement matters more than your visa application
Most embassies want to see consistent transactions, not a one-time huge deposit. Many people get rejected because of this alone.

2. Choosing the wrong country can set you back 3-5 years
Some countries are easier to enter but harder to work in legally. You need to match your skills and situation to the right destination.

3. You don't need an agent for most processes
Agents charge between ₦200k–₦500k for things you can do yourself with the right information.

Drop your questions below, I will answer as many as I can.

The first 6 months for any new country be when most people break down because dem think say dem dey escape something, but dem don enter another problem. Visit the place first before you go permanently. If you no fit survive 3 weeks there as local person, you no ready at all.
Better option is to migrate where you have family member or trusted friend. This shields the 6 months effect you mentioned above

Plan yourself well and don't migrate because you want to run out of Nigeria. Have a valid reason for migrating.
This is the summary of what the OP is saying and people like PulaPower that only see things through the lens of "propaganda" will put people in trouble with their kind of statements.

Most people end up loosing money and wasting time when they don't get the right the information before taking the step to japa. I know someone who has lost so much from one agent another who kept milking him dry!

The government has not put a blockade at the airport to fish out those that want to japa. People japa EVERYDAY but more waste money and time which they could have have been used judiciously because they just want to "come and be going" without proper info!

1. Selling your house or car in Nigeria before you've settled abroad.

2. Quitting your job too early before your visa and travel are 100% confirmed.

3. Arriving with barely enough money for just a few weeks or months.

4. Paying huge money to agents or "consultants" without verifying they are genuine.

5. Paying for a "Certificate of Sponsorship" when genuine ones are free.

6. Not having health insurance from your very first day abroad.

7. Lying or providing false documents on any visa or job application.

8. Choosing a country without properly researching jobs, cost of living, and weather.

9. Moving your entire family at once instead of one person going first.

10. Believing life abroad will be perfect and easy with no challenges.

11. Forgetting that your Nigerian degree or certificate may not be accepted without extra exams or fees.

Nobody is discouraging you oh. You can travel but be sure that you really know what you want and you are traveling to Australia, Canada or USA if you be law abiding person weh get patience to work and make money in a legitimate way. But if you be street boy, you can travel to any other country. When you reach there join others and survive. Jail is possible, making it big is possible and death is also possible. Because most of other countries no really get legit jobs for foreigners. And let there be a plan B incase of deportation else it is over for you! No agent go tell you truth because they want your money. Na when you sell everything enter abroad, then your eyes clear! '. I am a deportee so I know how messed up my life is right now. So think am well oh because there is no easy and quick money in any part of the world!

The only jobs available for foreigners in these places are Yahoo, drugs, homosexuality, olosho and legit construction work that is extremely difficult to get. You go cry if you no be street boy because even to recover your travel money go hard for you. Make agent no use your head oh

Your #1 though! If you're relocating based on job, your complete documents matter than your bank statement. I left Nigeria with less than a100k in my account, even immigration officer was not asking me for bank account but where is your job located and the document to work.

If only people can demonstrate the same passion they put on "japa" on their lives and career in Nigeria, their lives will be far better in Nigeria.
