Is there any lesson President Bola Tinubu can learn from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer's resignation?

First, Tinubu is not Keir Starmer and Nigeria is not the United Kingdom. We operate entirely different constitutional systems.

Second, elections—not social media—are the true test of popularity. Judging by what happened in the by-elections last Saturday, I can understand why some people are suddenly fascinated by resignations rather than elections.

It reminds me of an unprepared student who, having neglected his books all semester, begins praying for the examination to be cancelled.

Unfortunately, democracy insists on exams.

And ballot boxes, unlike Twitter Spaces, have a nasty habit of marking scripts.
