If you are ignorant of world politics.... you would say the journalist is foolish and is just a sore loser. Is that so? Sentiments aside ... if any other player in the tournament did the same as Messi .. would they have gotten the same treatment? We can agree they will not. Before you say the tackle is red, the referee looks at two things; 1. Intent. 2. How high the boot was raised. If that was a sliding tackle, then you can say the boot was raised dangerously high but that is a standing position!!!! That is at most a yellow ccard offense!!

1. It was from behind. Tackles from behind are frowned upon because the opponent can't see it coming and avoiding it.

2. It was no where towards the Ball or an attempt to play the ball, though it was not malicious or any malicious intent behind it.
