Personally, I don't think any man should miss the birth of his child on account of "official duty". A man should be there to experience that great moment and should be by his wife's side to offer moral and emotional support.

If the Norwegian player is okay being there via facetime, all well and good. It doesn't mean Doku must be compelled to follow the "facetime model".

I don't think it's greediness on Doku's part, in fact I believe the Belgium FA must have been aware of his wife's impending delivery when they called him up to the national team. They probably had an agreement with him to allow him leave should his wife deliver while the world cup was still ongoing.

Doku is arguably Belgium's most in-form player this year (Thus far) and the Belgium FA would probably be willing to make the gamble they are making now. They must have concluded that no other player can fit into his shoes.

PS: This is my personal opinion and believe on this matter.
