I suggest there should be a shorter and modular academic pathway created for people like this who have the practical experience so they can become certified.
With this, the number of quacks can be reduced and integrated into the system where there is regulation of activities.
The problem with practical experience is exposure level.

There's no short cut to certification.

Take for example engineering, if the person doesn't understand the underlaying principles, calculations, factor of safety and design procedures. It doesn't matter the practical experience he has, if anything evolves outside his/her practical experience they offer inferred solutions which is dangerous for execution. Because failure is highly likely.

Point in case a 10,000 overhead tank in Borno and Lagos have different design requirements in terms of foundation. The fact that the person has done 10 in Maiduguri does not mean he can repeat same in Lagos costal areas if he doesn't understand engineering principles. Why? The foundation requirements are different and you need design calculations to understand what's safe.

I'm not saying experts don't make mistakes, they do but it's very minimal and can be traced either in calculation or design procedures and it this is easily corrected and penalties given to avoid repetition of same and minister justice.

I know a man who studied medicine and surgery but didn't finish due to hardship.

For years he was just floating until he met a millionaire who's case defied all professional treatment.

This man only prescribed drug not more that 8k. This millionaire was reluctant but he was persuaded by his wife. He took the medics and I'm less than 3 days the man was fit like a fiddle.

All these doctors get jealous when they see an uneducated cure a patient.

The thing dey make them mad ..

LOL.. Funny people. Physicians don't want people watering down their course of study via shorter pathways to certification. But they are the greatest advocate for watering down the training and practice of other medical courses such as Pharmacy, MedLab, Nursing etc.

They train and employ quacks like Auxiliary nurses, pharm Assts and unlicensed SLTs to run their clinics and labs..and still blame the real professionals for quackery... Laughable...grin
Bro, this happens everywhere, banks will rather hire a degree holder in anthropology than someone who studied banking or related...just to crash train them and employ within a week!! Engineering firms employ those who read the measurements in imperial mode, all in the bid to cut costs!!!
But we're talking about things on standard and acceptable qualities
The world is just a crazy place!!

The only acceptable quality and standard is to employ those trained and certified to perform their medical duties and not to cut corners and bend the rules when it is convenient for you..

That is hypocritical and dangerous to humanity.

They should go to medical school, healthcare is not carpentry, we don't need apprentice doctors.
Many doctors in Colonial Africa and medieval europe started as Apprentice Physicians. They were trained on the job.

Do you want proof?

I don't need a proof, but you need a reminder that we are neither in colonial Africa nor medieval Europe

You also need to remember that many professions that branched out of medicine have now become independent professionals and can no longer be under the whims and caprices of the physicians.

But they still don't attain professional status through apprenticeship.

But you are encouraging that by training Aux Nurses and pharm assist. in your hospitals and clinics.

If that's not 'apprenticeship' I wonder what it is..

I wanted to react to the comment but was just short of words.

There are some monikers on this forum that one should just give up on them. Even if Elom Musk makes common sense common ehn, make I reserve my comment
Bridging digital divides was supposed to be a good thing but one downside is that you now get all sorts saying all manner of meaningless things online.

Unlike say 10 to 15 years ago when you knew that even if you disagree with an opinion, it was still likely that the person who made the comment had some baseline intelligence

Having a little knowledge everywhere ain't bad.

I can do CPR, I can do midwife duties, I can give injection, tie up wound, stitch wounds etc.

I'll continue to acquire more knowledge.
