This is out of curiosity and this is really worth asking.. When we talk of sports , I’ve hardly come across a big South African name known for anything In Africa, football for instance- big names have come out from Nigeria and still coming out… Nigerian players have won several awards both men and women category both past and present Talk of Rashidi YeKini, Jay Jay Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo, Mikel obi, Victor Osihmen, Ademola Lookman We have so much talents of Nigerian blood representing big nations- Bukola Saka, Folaring Balogun, Eberechi Eze, Tammy Abraham, Emmanuel Adebayo, David Alaba Other countries have something to boast of - Sadio Mane of Senegal, Salah Moh of Egypt, Marez , Drogba, Samuel Eto, Michael Essen, etc What of global icons in boxing like Anthony Joshua or Adesanya Israel…? Pls anybody here who can help with Black South Africans that are icons? Want to know them.. Randdigital Irongalaxy kleinbass

If we could identify their talents , we may be able to understand why they are obsessed with Nigerians… Just thinking … It’s quite unfair for a country not to be able to produce a single legend to represent them and they can boast of.. it could be really frustrating

HomoUnwoke, why una display your ignorance like this in broad daylight? Look how you only name Nigerian soccer stars as per your mandate from your Minister of A quick Google search, or Gugu as you pronounce it, for black SA stars across other sporting codes will reset your brain to normal mode. E.g. Athletics (particularly sprinting), rugby, cricket. |

Omoawoke:A simple Google search would have saved you from this embarrassment.. you talk about but you have nothing here but footballers.. Your problem here is ignorance.. ignorance with a big mouth never goes hand in hand |

IronGalaxy:I’ve tried Google search and to be honest , we don’t have any big names from South Africa.. Maybe you guys are legends only known within South Africa We talking of global icons in sports Pls give me just one name of one black South African who is an icon in sports Can’t post screenshot but this is what ChatGPT has to say If you’re using the standard of globally recognizable sports icons—the level where people who don’t follow that sport still know the name—then the list is surprisingly short. 1. Siya Kolisi — Rugby 2. Caster Semenya — Athletics 3. Wayde van Niekerk — Athletics (Coloured South African, not black African) 4. Lucas Radebe — Football 5. Benni McCarthy — Football Brutal answer: if you’re talking about Anthony Joshua / Salah / Drogba / Usain Bolt level worldwide fame, South Africa has essentially no black sports icon of that stature. Siya Kolisi and Caster Semenya are probably the closest. Benni McCarthy and Lucas Radebe are huge in football circles but not household names globally. |

KingCold:Who are these people? Are they regional icons in South Africa? We talking of global icons…or as any one of them even won African best players like Hakimi, Sadio Mane? No single South African has even won African player of the year? Am I wrong ? Is this why you guys are so frustrated and hate Nigerians and other Africans ? This is what ChatGPT have to say If you’re using the standard of globally recognizable sports icons—the level where people who don’t follow that sport still know the name—then the list is surprisingly short. 1. Siya Kolisi — Rugby 2. Caster Semenya — Athletics 3. Wayde van Niekerk — Athletics (Coloured South African, not black African) 4. Lucas Radebe — Football 5. Omoawoke:Anthony Joshua represents the UK, same with the likes of Saka, thats where they were trained and honed.. stop trying to claim them.. In the world of rugby, Siya kolisi is as iconic as Kane is to football.. But then again you know nothing about rugby |
| Re: Do Black South Africans Have Sport Talents? by Omoawoke(op): 3:22pm On Jun 23 |
KingCold:Hahahah We are talking of Nigerian bloods… there’s something about Nigerian DNA… the blood is strong So what of Victor osimhen, Kanu Nwankwo, What of Israel Adesanya.. And Bukola Saka and Anthony Joshua have never ever denied their Nigerian heritage.. they are full blooded Nigerian men and they know their lands… See painment ooo You talking of rugby? White man sports 😂😂 How many black South Africans are in the rugby team?? How many black Africans are competing with you people im rugby? Once Nigerians start playing rugby, we would dominate you again and again and you know it😭😭😭 |

KingCold:By the time I list ten Nigerians superstars …you guys would still be struggling to mention the name of Gwaragwara 😂😂 or labalaba of whatever he calls himself .. it seems that guy is the biggest thing that ever came out of South Africa… I mean that guy that scored your opening game in South Africa 2010…. See, this is not even a debate… Nigerians are by far , I mean by far in several thousand miles ahead of black South Africans in terms of talents |
| Re: Do Black South Africans Have Sport Talents? by KingCold: 3:26pm On Jun 23 |
Omoawoke:Why are you like this? Which pain? You came here an attempted to play black South Africans down to boost your ego, same thing you do everyday.. You're simply hiding behind Nigerians representing other countries because yoy know in Nigeria theres nothing beyond football.. If rugby its a "Whiteman sport, so is football.. they were both brought into this continent by colonialism.. |
| Re: Do Black South Africans Have Sport Talents? by Omoawoke(op): 3:27pm On Jun 23 |
KingCold:Cricket and rugby 😂😂😂😂 It seems black South Africans can only shine in any sports where other black Africans don’t participate Sorry Indians have no business with football same way black Africans have no interest in rugby and cricket USA love their Super Bowl the same way UK love their primier league and champions league.. Give us a global sporting event you people are known.. You have nothing ! |
| Re: Do Black South Africans Have Sport Talents? by Omoawoke(op): 3:30pm On Jun 23 |
KingCold:I have listed Nigerians representing Nigeria and are known… how many South Africans can you list ? Israel Adesanya is well known.. Both home and abroad, greatness is greatness… talent is talent … You guys don’t have nobody… no talent …. You can’t be mentioning cricket and rugby… The point is you can never ever compare football with cricket or rugby… they aren’t global sports and they are even dominated by white men in your country.. |
| Re: Do Black South Africans Have Sport Talents? by KingCold: 3:32pm On Jun 23 |
Omoawoke:You having no interest in rugby or cricket doesn't in nobway nullify the validity of the sport I already did.. Kolisi is a global rugby icon, Bavuma a world class cricket batsmen, what else do you want? Stick to sports that you want? |
| Re: Do Black South Africans Have Sport Talents? by Omoawoke(op): 3:33pm On Jun 23 |
KingCold:Is Antony Joshua a Nigerian ? Yes or no? Is Israel Adesanya a Nigerian ? |
| Re: Do Black South Africans Have Sport Talents? by KingCold: 3:34pm On Jun 23 |
Omoawoke:Look, when it comes to sports, Nigeria can never touch South Africa... football maybe...but overall sports nah.. we also participate in far more sporting disciplines than you.. Dude, its not my problem you don't understand rugby or cricket.. gtfo..there's more to sports than football |

Don't you think I know Joshua has Nigerian blood? He's the one that nearly died because you couldnt even provide him with a lousy ambulance.. He's British, same way Mbappe with his Cameroonian blood is French.. Stick to Nigerians in Nigeria, what else do they do outside of football? |
| Re: Do Black South Africans Have Sport Talents? by Omoawoke(op): 3:43pm On Jun 23 |
KingCold:Mention a global icon Nigeria: Anthony Joshua, Israel Adesanya, Kanu, Victor osimhen Ghana: Abedi Pele, Michael Essien Ivory Coast: Didier Drogba Jamaica : Usain Bolt South Africa:: actually his name is Kotosos Makililimi , he’s a super star that did long jump and rugby in Wintee opens 😭😭😂😂😂😂 |
| Re: Do Black South Africans Have Sport Talents? by KingCold: 3:44pm On Jun 23 |
