The Vote Buying Illusion: How Nigerians Are Being Deceived
In Nigeria's political landscape, vote buying is often presented as the greatest threat to free and fair elections. But what if this widely publicized menace is actually a smokescreen? A psychological tool crafted by corrupt politicians, media allies, and compromised electoral officials?

The reality is more sinister than it seems. Those viral videos of politicians handing out money to voters on election day aren’t just acts of desperation, they are staged distractions. Their goal isn’t just to sway a few voters; it's to manipulate the mindset of the masses.

Here’s how it works:

Defeat Your Spirit
The constant exposure to vote buying makes citizens feel elections are already lost. “What’s the point?” becomes the dominant mindset.

Divide the People
Instead of uniting to challenge injustice, people turn on each other — North vs. South, tribe vs. tribe, youth vs. elders. The ruling class smiles from the shadows.

Prevent Resistance
By the time the real rigging is done manually — through ballot manipulation, result falsification, and security compromise — people are too disillusioned or distracted to protest.

Let’s be honest: can you really buy 300,000 voters, talk more of 5 million voters? Even if they take the money, did anyone follow each one into the voting booth to see who they chose?

Vote buying is real, yes, but it’s not the main tool. It’s a decoy. The rigging happens through systemic manipulation long before and after election day. Publicizing these acts of vote buying serves only to condition your mind, weaken your resolve, and discourage collective action.

Don’t be deceived. Don’t fight your neighbor. The real enemy is organized, well-funded, and counting on your confusion.

It’s time to stay focused, stay united, and demand true electoral accountability.

A better Nigeria is POssible, 9ja4life!.

Vote buying is not an illusion but something real.

We have seen videos of some people leaving their house to vote for a particular candidate but had a change of mind for receiving Gala and lacazera, now imagine receiving cash

Also when it comes to rigging, you can't rig where you are not popular

I guess you don't know the benefits of being a member of a political party or being a member. The rewards is not only during election

Government job, government position, government empowerment, the party members are the first set of beneficiary before the citizens
